Stayed overnight for dinner Bed & breakfast, with Champagne &Truffles on arrival. Staff very friendly. Food in The Orangery superb for Dinner although for breakfast, food was ok but not warm enough for me. Rooms, although spotless, could do with a makeover. Has nice touches. Heavy snow during night was cleared from our cars before we left by the staff.... more

Having stayed at the Balbirnie a year ago my expectations were high, but unfortunately this time I was a little disappointed. The building itself is grand, but the room I was allocated seemed in need of a little TLC. The bathroom looked tired with some lightbulbs not working, and there was evidence of a leak from above (water runs, damp... more

Just come back from a super wedding at the Balbirnie House, beautiful location and overall the wedding was great but front desk service was pretty awful at check-in. I was made to feel uncomfortable and like a second class citizen when my room was not ready. My room was okay, clean but pretty shabby and in need of a makeover.... more

A beautifully set hotel makes you feel you're in the middle of nowhere. A stately appearance inside and out, our room was also well positioned tp look over the gardens. The room was also grand with a four-poster bed, and a huge en-suite with a gorgeous tub. Booked as a package with DB&B, champagne and a deluxe room it costly,... more

My partner and I stayed at the Balbirnie House Hotel for two nights in early June and we also hosted a family dinner for 20 in the hotel’s private dining room. Our deluxe Room (No. 307) was large and on the top (3rd) floor; no lift available so the porter was obliged to carry our luggage all the way! The... more

I stayed here overnight for business. Although pricey I had an amazing room and the staff were wonderful. We were greeted with warmth and terrific service. Unfortunately the main restaurant was closed, so we ate in the bistro, which didn't have a great deal of choice but the food was very good. I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and... more

To say that you are welcomed would be a huge misunderstanding. They advertise that their dining isoff to a flying start and they ask are you ready!! McDonalds has better service, food and atmosphere compared to the Bistro at Balbirnie, where you are treated as a second if not third class citizen. I was given a voucher by friends who... more

Styed here overnight whilst at a conference. Staff very helpful & efficient. Room was spacious with all I could want (including access to internet via TV). Hotel ought to get duvets tho' - didn't sleep so great with sheets & blankets. Was very disappointed by food tho' despite it having won awards. If you like cooked breakfast then you'll be... more

Fantastic wedding venue - my sister married here last week and we had a fantastic time - i admit that the rooms are pretty inconsistent in size but that is reflected in the price and some of the rooms are really quirky and add to the overall feel of the hotel - the food in the orangery is amazing and... more

Although we did not stay overnight at the hotel as we live nearby, my husband and I enjoyed a lovely evening to celebrate my husband's 50th Birthday. I would like to commend all staff for very professional, friendly and attentive service. The meal was excellent and when the staff discovered it was a special occasion the chef decorated my husband’s... more
