Much to my surprise, I learned that Stan & Mary opened the Aslar House about 19 months ago because they already display PERFECTION- from their informative e-mails, extraordinary cordial & courteous welcome, explicit room details & amenities, and spectacular breakfast buffet and customized menu selections! The hosts are so friendly & personable that we immediately felt relaxed- like being with... more

Owners - Stan and Mary - are very friendly. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were lovely. Location was as central as you could wish for. Highly recommended for a break..we will be back. more

This was my third visit to this excellent upmarket B&B. This time I stayed in room 2, a spacious room beautifully decorated in blue and white with a smart and modern bathroom. The attention to detail is impressive - good quality shampoo and shower gel, a mini fridge, facilities for making tea and coffee - and delicious shortbread. Breakfasts are... more

We have just returned from the Aslar House, staying there for 3 nights in Room 1. Stan and Mary gave us an excellent welcome, as they did last year when we stayed. Our room was huge and had evrything you needed for your stay. Gorgeous furnishings and very comfortable bed! We loved their little touches eg fresh milk in fridge,... more

This is the nicest B&B my husband and I have ever stayed at. Especially liked the little sitting room in the turret. Huge bed, view over pretty garden. Everything bright, clean and cosy. Breakfast as big and as varied as you like; all freshly cooked to order (some veggie sausages would be the only addition I would suggest to the... more

I have stayed in various hotels and b&b's within the UK and America. This is the questhouse that made me sign up to let others know how amazing this place was. Stan greeted me as I arrived, never met a nicer man, and Mary was exceptional too, they spent time speaking to me, never considering it a chore, they even... more

Have just returned from the Aslar and cannot recommend it highly enough. We have been there once before, and liked it very much but, since the current owners have taken over, staying there is really an exceptional experience. Although it is situated in central St Andrews, the setting is fairly quiet. The house has a very welcoming, comfortable feel about... more

If you want to stay in a comfortable, immaculate and friendly guest house, the Aslar has to be top of the list. I've stayed in many establishments, from large chain hotels, to chambres d'hotes in the UK and abroad, and I can without a doubt say that this guest house was the best of the lot. Arriving for a university... more

A very welcoming guest house. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed with flat screen TV and DVD players - and there is a wide selection of DVDs available at reception for guests to borrow. Breakfasts were excellent with fresh fruit, yoghurts etc as well as a traditional cooked breakfast. The owners were extremely helpful, suggesting good local restaurants and... more

My boyfriend and I took the sleeper up from London - St Andrews for a friend's wedding in September, and stayed for a night at the Aslar Guest House. The place itself was great (perfect location, lovely breakfast, spacious well equipped modern rooms), but the place is made even more perfect by the couple that run the guest house -... more
