I have stayed at the Argyll many times over the years. I have also stayed at numerous other properties around the world and what sets the Argyll apart is the at home friendliness of the staff that more often than not is missed at larger properties. Location wise (for me) its perfect very close to the university area and SECC... more
Just on the outskirts of Glasgow City Centre. A small hotel with good clean rooms and power shower. Clean and tidy, very reasonably priced. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and piping hot. Taxi fare around £4.50 to town centre, plenty of local buses. Excellent choice of local bars and restraunts with a short distance, Have stayed before and... more
A very slick operation but not for the guests, The warm welcome consists of asking your name, how you intend to pay and getting payment in advance. We had signed in for three nights over the new year period. Once checked in we found there was no cooked breakfast on the 1st or 2nd only what passed for a continental... more

The best thing about the Argyll is the delightfully helpful front desk staff. My husband and I and a friend spent two nights there, and were really struck by how outgoing the staff was. Another huge plus about the Argyll are the beautifully tended urns of flowers which greet passersby. They immediately show the care that is put into this... more
An older style small hotel, situated close to Kelvingrove art gallery & museum. Rooms are on suite but small. Don't expect much in terms of free shampoo or sewing kits. TV in rooms and some patchy wifi coverage. An iron is available in some of the corridors. Breakfast is buffet style, with cereals, bread and hot food. This is certainly... more
Overall, it wasn't bad. They said that there was wireless internet, but it only worked infrequently. When I asked about it, they didn't seem to care. more
After the hustle and bustle of the city, I was pleasantly surprised with the location of this hotel. And, getting off the city tour bus was very happy that the hotel was literally just across the road, so not far to walk there!! Overall, I would choose to stay in this part of town again, convenient for attractions all over... more
I have stayed at the Argyll before. I went back there on the 12th April with my wife. What we really liked about the Argyll is the cleanliness and freshness. Although not a modern hotel it is maintained to very high standards. The lift was well situated and quiet, the room comfortable with a properly spung bed with 'proper' pillows,... more
