The hotel and room was very basic. When I rang the bell to check in the man who I presume was the owner answered the door wearing scruffy shirt, trousers and bare feet. Not a very nice first impression. The fun started at breakfast. A group of ladies at the next table had just been told by the same man... more

I recently had the misfortune to stay in the Hillhead Hotel, the worst B&B I have ever encountered! Upon arrival I was greated by an over worked foul mouthed employee, whom I later witnessed taking a delivery of narcotics (speed, she informed me, so she could cope with her work load). This woman was rude and abrupt, swearing at fellow... more

Booked the Hillhead Hotel at fairly last minute. First the positive comments. The hotel is ideally placed for the West End of Glasgow with good links to the centre of Glasgow by the underground. Good for visiting the Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove Museum etc. and lots of nice eateries in the area. Ideal if you are visiting someone attending Glasgow University.... more

Not that I stay at B&B a lot but I can safely say this is by far the worst one I've been in. On the positive side, the room was ensuite & reasonably clean. There was a coloured TV. The manager lady was very nice but appeared very unhappy with her job and definitely looked very stressed. The B&B was... more

We stayed at the Hillhead two nights. We took the overnight train from London, and arrived about 10 in the morning. The hardworking, but not particularly cheery breakfast lady/maid gave us our room early, which we appreciated. The furnishings were old and very cheap to start with. The room was relatively clean, except for a big wet spot at the... more

Please do not go here. Bed was really hard and uncomfortable. Owner demanded payment as soon as we arrived, before we had even seen the room! Not only that but he was very unfriendly and not at all polite and welcoming. Water coming out of shower was either boiling hot or freezing. A very depressing experience for my husband and... more

Compared to some of the other B&B's we stayed at in Scotland, the Hillhead was not as luxurious. However, the manager on duty was very friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Breakfast was very good, as it is everywhere in Scotland! Our room was in the basement of the hotel (really a B&B, despite the name) ... and while adequately... more
