Just nasty! Frightening stairs, little rooms, not too clean and poor breakfast . Staff wasn't really nice (specially woman at the desk). Creepy atmosphere. At least, location wasn't too bad but.... don't go, please! It's cheap, but I think it doesn't worth it. Pay little more and stay in another place. more

My friends from a band in Aberdeen and I were travelling down to one of their gigs. We were originally booked into a place just down the road, where we were told the rooms were en suite and none of them were. So, in a last resort, we rushed down to Mclays guest house, where they offered us rooms for... more

spent only 1 night at the mclays, we had to stop there another night but we decided to sleep at the airport. Rooms were dirty, toilet was filthy and there were several holes in the blankets. There was a terrible smell and dirt on the floor. TV didn't work but that was the last of our problems... more

I got a room in the attic, 4 floors stair-climbing on a very narrow spiral staircase, with a big suitcase it was almost impossible. The room was very small i hardly could find place for my suitcase, everything was dirty, tv didn't work and wasn't possible to close the window. Some positive things: it was very cheap, it is in... more

Extremely unfriendly front desk woman, who kept condecending the my friends and I when we asked about checkout times etc. Our door didn't lock, and overall McLays just had a very seedy aura to it. Would NOT recommend it! more

We stayed at this guest house for two nights in November as we were going to see a band at the barrowlands ball room. Our room was massive, clean and well equipt and the bathroom was brand new and very plush! Some people shared bathrooms but we paid a little bit extra for the ensuite. It was still brilliant value... more

Stayed in this hell hole last month on a hen weekend, it was just terrible. When we arrived and had to struggle up the mountain of steps with our luggage, we were welcomed with the smell of stale cigarette smoke and cooking grease! The lift is tiny, only one person at a time please! I was waiting on plumeting to... more

Right. I'll try to make sense of the mixed reviews here. This is a basic, no-frills B&B right in the centre of Glasgow that's within walking distance of the train stations. My room was clean and warm on a cold day, and contained all the basic facilities to meet my requirements for one overnight stay. I was out late, so... more

Stayed 2 nights in december for some romantic christmas shopping with my wife. Long story short ..... Value for money. This B&B is actuely several joined buildings, so no rooms are alike. Stayed in room 90- something and were content.Clean and nice room. Suprisingly good en-suite bathroom. 15 minutes walk from Glasgow sentral station, at the end of the shopping-area.... more

We hadn't read the bad reviews until after booking, so arrived with feelings of trepidation - we needn't have worried. We'd booked a standard room with shared bathroom, but were given an en suite room at no extra charge! It was clean, comfortable & quiet, the breakfast was fine, and the staff were friendly and helpful. 2 nights for 2... more
