Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff stiil give you a warm welcome and they have been there a while. Room has everything you need. Breakfast is next door now in Novohotel and costs an expensive £12. Unfortunately there is still a lot of building work going on around the hotel. Handy for good camera shop WEX around the corner.

We arrived to be greeted by Nicole the receptionist, who was very helpful about questions I asked. During our conversation I mentioned that it was out 2nd wedding anniversary, by the time we got our bags from the car she had organised a lovely card for us in our room and some gorgeous chocolate, this was a really nice touch, she certainly went the extra mile. The room was well presented and clean, ideal for a city break, will certainly stay again and recommend to others. Thank you again Nicole.

A nice warm, friendly welcome on arrival at reception. Room was nice and clean, with a very comfy bed and the room was fitted with a much needed blackout blind. We had the breakfast included in our stay and it was superb. Plenty of choice and the empty dishes were quickly replenished. Staff cleared and cleaned the tables quickly, so there were no issues trying to find a place to sit. The first two days of our stay were on the New Year Bank Holidays, but on the 3rd & 4th days we were woken by the horrendous banging, drilling and generator noise from the large building site that fronted our rear facing room! This started about 7.30am and was still going on after 6pm when we returned to wash and change for dinner. Even with the window closed it was still too loud to hear the T.V. I hasten to add this was not the fault of the hotel, but I think prospective guest should be made aware before they book. On the second day, our room was not serviced, so we had no tea, milk or toilet roll so had to go down to reception where the lovely receptionist gave me some replenishments. Unfortunately as our towels hadn't been replaced they were still wet the following morning, as we couldn't couldn't get them dry. The one lift that was working, was temperamental and we often ascended and descended via the staircase. The front facing staff were amazing and also those behind the scenes did a pretty good job. Great location for our stay, 10 minute walk to the closest two Subways and about 15-20 walk to Glasgow Central rail station. Plenty of food and drinking establishments nearby. We would stay here again without a doubt, but only if we could request a room at the front, as the site work at the back will be going on for several months.

Cheap n dingy place, hotel room design is utter garbage, no proper wardrobe, no shelves/drawers as such, just be prepared to live out your suitcase. Oh and the light fixture cables are not a great idea if you've kids, but are an awesome tool if your planning on commiting suicide. Note, as hotel won't tell you!!! GLASGOW LOW EMMITIONS ZONE- if driving you better check up! Staff ok. Breakfast good but that's down to it being dished up by Novotel ( STAFF AT BREAKFAST WERE LOVELY ) Location ok, area run down . Overall, wouldn't want to stay more than 2 nights, ok for lads night out or just staying 1/2 nights, wouldn't take kids there, low budget hotel, Nuff said!

Response from Janice Fisher, General Manager at Ibis Glasgow City Centre - Sauchiehall Street Hotel
Responded 5 Jan 2024
Hello billybanks , I have read your comments with some sadness. Our sweet room design makes great use of the space, there is storage space under the bed for suitcases, a wardrobe where we can offer additional hangers if requested, shelving above the wardrobe, a bench seating area and desk. The light fixtures are attached to the ceiling with magnets so release when any weight added but such a shame that this is a worry for you. We have many guests with children staying with us and the parents do supervise them. We advertise the low emmission zone on our website as it is now becoming common across most cities of the UK as we make city centres more breathable for visitors. I am sorry that you seem to have had a miserable start to the year and I do hope the rest of 2024 brings you more happiness. Kind regards Janice Fisher General Manager

We stayed for four nights as part of our city break to the very enjoyable City o Glasgow. This Ibis is in a good location for restaurants and bars and is just a 10 minute walk from Central station. There is a lot of building work surrounding the hotel but this did not cause any problems An enjoyable breakfast is taken in the adjoining Novotel and I made use of the leisure facilities in that hotel as well. The staff were very helpful at all times and we would definitely return

Basic hotel, clean with everything you need. The beds are comfy and the room amenities are good. Shower small and slippy, very little wardrobe space and thin walls. The hotel was quiet when we were there, but i did hear people’s phone alarm through the wall so if there are loud guests you’d hear a lot.

I hardly ever write negative reviews but I've had a terrible experience at your hotel. I wish to speak to the manager if possible. There was a mistake with my booking which was due to the staff working there. Basically on the second day of my stay I was told to either leave or pay extra for the room. I am happy to share all email communication with the manager. There was definitely a lack of customer service and was just made to feel like money was the only concern. It's disappointing because I have enjoyed staying at this hotel in the past.

Hotel was nice and very clean, reception staff were very welcoming. The only negative was the room was a little to hot and couldn’t control the temperature. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train station and is a little outside the city, but close enough to a lot of nice restaurants
