In arrival was met with a very friendly receptionist who handed me room key and pointed to stairs.
My room was awful. Very damp smell with black mould running along ceiling and the TV did not work.
To be fair when told, they moved me instantly to a much better room.
I had no need for food but quite glad as I saw a member of staff walking to a room with food.....plate of mac n cheese with no cover on it despite being trailed through corridors and up stairs.
In favour it did meet my needs. The bed was very comfy and the room I got second was very clean. Night porter that let me out at 3am was cheerful and friendly.
If you need a cheap quick stop this hotel is fine. If you're expecting any quality or luxury I would avoid
But now THANKFULLY that has changed the breakfasts were beautifully presented and tasted lovely and was cooked to the way I asked. I was very pleased and said to the waitress about our breakfast and was informed by the young waitress caitlin that they have a new chef martin we both myself and my friend would like to thank him and the waitress for excellent service and long may it continue
Our Flight was cancelled on way back and when we rang hotel they held 2 rooms for ourselves as family rooms were unavailable. Found hotel very welcoming, will.def be back.
Hotel is old and has no lift but looks like they have been updating decor and investing money which is always good. There was functions 2 nights we were there and were advised it may be loud to 12/12.30, didn't stop me sleeping.
Wifi is rubbish
TV- no picture.
Receptionist was ok, friendly and clean. After visiting my room, I decided to do not visit breakfast and dinner, probably too dengerous.
Bathroom in very poor condition- floor tiles is moving, toilet is moving, towels probably 100 years old, so folk- please don't waste your money and keep yourself without stress.
Never again!
Staff were top notch, great customer service.
We took a small dog, small extra charge which is standard, no issue there. Right across the street there is a lovely park for walks, absolutely perfect.
Plenty of free parking .
Good value hotel all round.
We will defiantly visit again!
If you want a full scottish breakfast you have to pay an additional 9 GBP PP.
But the dinner.soup was nice but chicken was tasteless apple pie was ok.
Room was adequate but that was all, breakfast was a disaster placed. Our order for cooked breakfast after 15 minutes the waitress came back and asked us what we wanted told her we had already ordered from her?
After another 10 minutes brought or tea and coffee but never had a lid for the coffee pot and no milk jug so gave us a glass of milk.
After about 40 minutes from sitting down our breakfast arrived, 5 minutes before this a lady had returned her breakfast as she was not happy with it, we had a feeling apart from the fried egg which was nice this was the breakfast that had been returned.
A same after a lovely show our stay was wasted think management must take some of the blame with the bad planning.
As you might guess we won’t be back.
Firstly great parking, receptionist was pleasant, welcoming and attentive.
We requested a 12.00 check in (we arrived at 1.30) and as hotel was fully booed the night before our room wasn’t ready so had to wait until 2pm which wasn’t a problem.
The room itself was basic, quite dark, lamp didn’t work and bathroom was a bit of a let down but it was clean and coffee facilities were good. Bedding was clean and beds were comfortable. It did the job. But decor was very outdated.
My main issue was when I arrived back earlier than my sister. She stayed with friends and I came back as I was tired. Got there and realised my sister still had the key. I thought this wouldn’t be a problem, it was !
The night porter initially went to get a key to open my room then returned to say he didn’t have a spare key. I mean really ? I had to wait in reception until my sister returned at 1am. He did nothing more to help me, shrugged his shoulders and carried on hoovering function room. I was really upset and shattered.
Breakfast time, we went down at 8am, we were down for a continental breakfast rather than a cooked breakfast ?? I saw no option for this when booking so something to check when booking.
Carpet in dinning room really needs replaced !!
Overall I paid £153 for a twin room. I wouldn’t say it’s worth that price and I would expect a proper breakfast for that. But if you can get a better deal it will defo do the job as a base.
