With fond memories of Aviemore, ranging from school trips to the Youth Hostel, family holidays to the Coylumbridge right through to working trips to the Stakis Four Seasons hotel, I can only admit to being heartbroken when I visited Donald MacDonalds Highland resort! What a terrible, terrible collection of hotels he has in Aviemore. We were visiting to do the... more

As an Australian this complex would be great for sunny Queensland, but not Scotland, the long walks for breakfast & tea (dinner) both at different sites, with little signage to show patrons the way. Good thing the weather was reasonably fine. more

Inadequate bar services, limited choice dinner menu. Breakfast was available from 7.30 only after complaints that 8.00 was too late to make our Golf tee off times. We returned from Golf at 3.15PM no bar services available whatsoever. Bar staff were friendly and efficient, explained when they arrived that the normal start time for them was 4.00PM, Central book in... more

Service standards at all levels was unacceptable. Our group was split into 2 different hotels. Disgraceful. We were made to go to another hotel for breakfast, where they didn't even have a note of our names. The management is apalling. The locals say the place is worse than Fawlty Towers. Arrange a mortgage if you want a drink. Never again! more

I agree with an earlier review: you get what you pay for. The rooms are small and bog standard but we found the service to be excellent (especially main desk - nothing was too much trouble) and the main retaurant to be better than expected and the chef and waiters were able to easily deal with special dietary requirements without... more

Hotel rooms are located in several different buildings. Close to downtown-can walk but of course you have noise from downtown at night. No AC. Lots of noise underneath our window as they were doing moisture abatement. Heat was on in our room when we arrived??? Took forever for our room to cool down. Generator for moisture abatement whined all night... more

Enjoyed our stay here, kids loved the swimming pool with wave machine, flume ride etc. Beds were very flimsy and not a great sleep to be honest. Rooms clean and tidy, breakfast was lovely and relaxed and best of all not too busy! Central location for all activitites and right on main town street. more

Have just returned from a trip to Aviemore with my husband and three sons staying in the Woodland lodges at the Macdonald resort. The lodges are well spaced out in a wooded area and were very spacious and clean. They were well equipped and we were able to use the other facilities in the resort - the kids enjoyed the... more
