We stayed with a group on a visit to ski at Cairngorm mountain and from that point of view it's reasonably convenient for the slopes (which are about 20 mins away by bus/car in normal circumstances) and the town centre which is 5 minutes walk. There is one reception which covers a number of hotel buildings which are spread out... more

Stayed at Highland Hotel- Shabby rooms, poor service in the restaurant, needs a good clean and facelift. I know star ratings are based on facilities but you expect a level of quality in a four-star hotel that this seriously fell short of. I've stayed in travel lodges of better quality and service. Ate at Giovanni's Ristorante- small portions, average quality,... more

Decided to eat there after visting the shop, four adults and two children. After discovering that there was no soup we decided to opt for sandwiches, what a dreadful idea! After waiting for ages whilst staff bustled around someone eventually asked us what we wanted and then went off to find the 'chef'. We told the chef what we wanted,... more

We stayed in November for one night. The room we had was quite large but a little tired, I think a redecoration is needed as some of the paintwork was a little shabby. The room, ensuite and bed where all clean though so I wasn't too worried. Breakfast was really lovely and they seemed to have everything imaginable on offer.... more

The resort is great. The pool and entertainment were perfect for my 7 and 4 year old children. We stayed at The Academy and found the room to be very dirty indeed. The sink had an accumulation of dirt in it. Unfortunately one of the children's toys rolled under the bed and what a mistake to look under it!!! It... more

Everything was awful - 4 Seasons Hotel like someting out of the 1960's concrete, worn carpets and damp smells. Four Stars - you must be joking! room was freezing, window would not close, mould in the bathrooms, tv picture was very bad, food clod and inedible, no staff around to help it was like a ghost hotel. Should I go... more

We stayed in the Four Seasons Hotel for two nights as part of a group of eleven attending a conference. The weather was –2 with a strong to Gail force winds out side. We arrived in our first room, which was an icebox. I turned up the radiator under the window to full, which made no difference in over an... more

We booked 2 nights for our wedding anniversary for the beginning of November at the MacDonald Highland's Hotel (4*). The hotel was well sign posted (there are 4 in the resort), but it wasn't clear where we were to check in on the website and failed to see the central reservations sign. We were greeted by reception staff (trainee) who... more

Spent 2 nights over a weekend at the Aviemore Inn within the resort in September 2007. Resort itself is huge, with numerous hotels - probably of differing standards - so my comments only apply to the main communal areas and my own experience at the Aviemore Inn. Bedroom very tired, with a strange damp smell pervading the corridors. Bathroom was limescale... more

We stayed at the 4star macdonalds highland hotel in aviemore and the experience was not a good one. The "feature room" with "amazing views" had a great view of nothing else but the car-park. The shopping "complex" was just one big shop selling stuff that really is pointless and overpriced. On one night the car park was so full that... more
