Choice in John O'Groats is limited. Seaview has benefit of central location, particularly for evening meal - only available at Seaview or outstanding Schoolhouse Restaurant nearby. Hotel is generally OK, though no other merits and not great value relative to B&Bs we found throughout UK on 24 day tour. Check alternatives first before booking - and eat at Schoolhouse (more... more

There is only one good thing about this hotel and that is its location close to the water. Besides that it is overpriced and the service/staff is extremely poor. Also the food (dinner in bar and breakfast in the morning) was lousy and way too expensive. more

Prices higher than on outside wall. Rooms too small for a couple as being charged for. Breakfast miniscule. Evening food over priced, wine list over priced, staff pretty gormless. In fact don`t go to John O Groats at all, miserable place. more

Having stayed here one night we are rather suspicious of some of the positive reviews. Accommodation in the guest house annex was mostly clean but included peeling wallpaper, crumpled lino, mould on the shower tiles, curtains which came off the end of the track and complementary 'tesco value' handwash. Most staff (not all) seemed to by trying their best with... more

After a long journey up the road, i arrived at the Seaview Hotel and was welcomed by friendly staff and was shown to my clean, warm room which had a great view of the Islands. I ate in the restaurant where i had a green thai chicken curry which i thoughly recommend and then tried a few of the local... more

I booked with the Seaview Hotel and then read the reviews, i was a bit concerned as some reviews were not very good but my fears were proved to be unfounded as my stay in John o' Groats was a wondeful experience. The Hotel was clean, warm and comfortable and the home cooked food was locally sourced and very reasonably... more

We had the same problems as the other group of end to enders, except my bed was broken as well as no hot water. Andrew Mowat says they/we stayed at the guest house and not there fault. RUBBISH we were shown our rooms by your staff and paid your bill. That makes it your problem. If i do this run... more

Together with four friends, I stayed at the Seaview Hotel on the evening of 13th June 2009. Just to put our stay in context, we had just completed a charity motorbike run from Lands End to John O'Groats. We were looking forward to a hot bath/shower, a decent meal and a good night's sleep. We were assigned our rooms. They... more

I would like to point out that the group described did not stay in Seaview Hotel, as stated in the description, they actually stayed in Caberfeidh guest house.

This is the only hotel at John o groats. There is nothing there to see or do, except to catch the ferry to the Orkneys. It is locally owned, and well run, and a fair price for the rooms. We had big double room, efficient heating, queen bed, nice bathroom, and a great pub meal to warm you up. What... more
