I toured the United Kingdom on bicycle, and Thurso was the last stop before my return to London. As many of those who have undertaken the Land's End to John O'Groats bicycle ride would know, it is a real pain getting the bicycle on the train from either Thurso or Wick on the train for a southbound journey because of inadequate provisions for cargo. We got into such a problem, but the owners of Annandale helped us to get delivery of packing boxes for our bikes, took responsibility for the shippers to pick them up from the B&B, and best of all, because of our early morning departure at 0600 hrs from their house, they prepared a sumptuous breakfast for us the night before. Lovely people, and a must-stay place that is only 10 minutes' walk from the Thurso train station. more
