Although not very modern, (the lift is VERY slow) the room in the main building was spacious and it was well-equiped. The supper and breakfast was fair. Good place for a stayover on a trip through Scotland.

Stayed here many times before for weddings and this was main reason we stayed again. Family room was huge and faultless. Check in was quick & easy. Evening meal was great & excellent value. Slept great and following morning breakfast was great - only moan would be ref coffee. Tea comes in a pot for many cups but you only... More

Stayed here last year and booked in advance. When we got there we were put in the lodges which were pretty old and run down. Paid the extra to move into the main hotel and it was well worth moving. Rooms lovely, breakfast lovely, staff very attentive.

We stayed overnight before crossing to Orkney and were very comfortable. The breakfast was good and especially the scrambled eggs which were cooked to perfection! We arrived late evening and only needed a night's rest and breakfast and it was perfect, Service was fine also.

Just returned from a one night stay, the hotel as others is not the most modern hotel but you couldn't fault the staff or the food. The room I had was in was one of the lodge rooms and was one of the larger rooms. Although it could have done with a refurb as it is rather dated, the bed... More

I've stayed here about six times over the last ten years. Every time it has been for work. It is not the Ritz, nor does it claim to be, nor should anyone compare it to it. This is very much a "Workies" place. I personally like the lodges out the back. The beds are always clean and loads of hot... More

Couple of things let this place down, the cold unwelcoming lady on reception but most of all the breakfast. On entering the conservatory I searched without success for a clean table. They put blue covers at 45 degrees to the main white cover and every single one was covered in crumbs and dried in food stains. I liked the bedroom... More

Used this for one night stop before getting Orkney Ferry Good views ,hotel looks good from outside but inside is old fashioned and a bit tired looking. Good stuff - comfy bed, good shower, quiet surroundings even though it was on the main road to the ferry. Cost £90 because we picked a posh room but I felt it was... More

We stayed in the lodges which were a disappointment - they are in need of refurbishment ie bathroom functional but black mould around bath and shower tiles: bed covers tatty and room generally run down. The Hotel part is good where meals are served - a different picture from the lodges. It was good value for money but the lodges... More

We've stayed here in the past and therefore knew what to expect. Unfortunately we couldn't get booked in anywhere else in Thurso for an overnight stay in June (before catching the ferry to Orkney on the Saturday morning) - we booked in January. The hotel rooms are not bad, if a little pricey but the lodges are awful and not... More
