This was the annual ''3 Amigos (train anoraks)'' rail safari. We used the Clansman as the base for 3 nights to do trips to the Kyle, Thurso & Edinburgh. I assume the Clansman is just 2* because it is only bed & breakfast and hasn't a bar--but it delivers a 4* service. At the booking stage the communication was friendly,... More

I turned up in the cold and dark, without having made a booking or even checked if there was any room available. I only intended staying for two nights, but the friendliness of the owners and staff, along with the proximity of the bus and railway stations, meant that I stayed for a whole week. My room was warm and... More

I have stayed at MacDougall Clansman on a few occasions previously so had no hesitation in booking a night there on my way to the Western Isles.Lovely comfy and home-from-home hotel, right in the middle of town and near railway station and river walks. Only regret was I didn't stay longer on this occasion. Friendly and helpful staff, pleasant breakfast... More

The owner of this hotel is lovely and the service provided was excellent. The rooms were very nice considering the rates.

While this was very reasonably priced for a city centre hotel, and the lady owner was very helpful and accomodating, the building itself let the side down. The room was okay, a bit basic, no hairdryer, and a sticky shower door. There was quite a lot of noise in the early morning from trucks going past in the street. The... More

Centrally located the small Hotel / Guesthouse was a good choice. Since it was Sunday parking was no problem, on other days the lack of private parking space could be a matter. The interior was old fashioned, but clean and working. The room itself was fair sized, the bathroom small with toilett, sink and small shower. The breakfast was freshly... More

It's everything a tourist needs in a hotel: centrally located (5 minute walk from train station), reasonably priced (40 pounds a night for one person), very friendly and accommodating management and staff, good breakfast, clean bathrooms, a good place to change clothes and shower and rest. No safe or fridge in rooms. Not much atmosphere outside, but inside the lobby... More

I spent two nights in this small family run hotel. I arrived in Inverness late after 10pm without a booking, and although the front door was locked, a phone call found staff at the desk and he was exceptionally willing to assist me. He went the extra mile. Since I'm a trad music fan, I was interested in this hotel... More

We stay here every time we come down from Skye! I love it! It is a little old fashioned family run hotel. It is how a hotel should be. It is quaint with character and run by a super friendly family. It's like taking a step back in time to what a good Hotel would of looked like in the... More
