The location for this hotel is great… that’s about it in terms of positive feedback. It’s tired, dated, grubby & not very secure. My room smelt of cigarette smoke and mould and despite having the window open whenever I was in the room I couldn’t get rid of this odour. I stayed for three nights and when leaving to explore the city after the first night I realised the bedroom door didn’t automatically lock when it closed. It took a bit of fiddling around with the lock and electric key to get it to close and securely lock. The room felt grubby and dirty generally and in the three night stay a cleaner only came once… they gave more toilet roll. That was it. No clean cups, no clean towels, bed wasn’t made, no more tea/coffee/milk, literally just more loo roll. I visited with two others friends who had the same experience with their room. When we were greeted upon check in we weren’t given any information about breakfast, where to go, what times it was served and price. So we went elsewhere. When we checked out, granted it was early, we weren’t asked about our stay or anything, we were generally met by silence from the receptionist. This place has so much potential, but at the moment it really falls short in terms of providing good hospitality and a friendly warm environment.

I walked into the hotel 12.30 on 10th March 24 Sunday to get lunch with my daughter. Ten mins we waited, no kids menu about, finally a waiter came, he would have guessed from my face expressions that I had waited already. He said hi and left. Ten mins later I tried to find him, no luck! Only one table with four people at it so what was he busy with? Young lad and so lazy! No wonder the place is empty if a waiter can’t be bothered doing his job. Why is it open then if there’s no service?

We are staying here right now. Perfect location in the heart of Inverness. Great room with river view. Stunning by day and night. Very good shower. Room is cosy but you can open windows for fresh air which is nice. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food in bar (McNabs) was lovely last night. Breakfast choice also very good . And all cooked items piping hot from the buffet . Truly can’t fault this place if you look beyond the wear and tear that’s evident around the public areas of the old building. We will no doubt return

Our room was on the top floor and the heating was provided by a small electric heater which didn’t heat the room very well. The room was in need of redecoration with paint flaking from the ceiling and windows. Our room didn’t get cleaned and we had to ask for clean towels. The quilt sticking out of the cover was grey and obviously old and unwashed. Breakfast in the restaurant was of decent quality but was barely lukewarm and served on crockery which was ice cold. Would have complained if any of the staff had asked if everything was okay. All in all not an experience we would wish to repeat and would certainly not recommend to anyone.

Recently stayed for 3 nights and we were allocated room 207. The room is small with a fairly large double bed squeezed in. You have to edge along sideways between the window and the edge of the bed at one side and the toilet wall and the edge of the bed on the other. There is a free standing wardrobe with a 30mm gap between the back of it and the wall and if you look in the gap you see enough debris dust and fluff for a medium size bird to build a nest with. The large dressing table mirror is mainly covered by the television, so is not ideal for ladies who want to get ready to go out, as if you sit on the chair provided you can’t see over the TV. The volume button and channel button did not work on the TV remote. The bed was quite comfy, but the pillows were the worst if ever tried to sleep on. The toilet is very small and has the smallest shower cubicle I’ve ever seen in a hotel. There is mould pretty much everywhere around the shower. There is nowhere in the toilet to set anything other than one small shelf that holds next to nothing. There is a hot tap on the sink and a cold tap that also runs hot. I informed reception of this and asked that some drinking water get put in the room. The reception staff assured me this would be done. This never happened. Breakfast is buffet style and is not very appealing to look at but actually tasted OK. However, on our last morning, we came down for breakfast 10 mins before the finish time. Nothing left other than 2 wizened up sausages and half a rasher of bacon. No offer was made to see if any more was available. Our coffee was delivered and when poured it looked like tar and was stone cold. The waitress was going around collecting plates with a trolley which had most of the wheels stuck and was screeching profusely. We have stayed here before but never experienced anything like this. It is supposed to be 3 star, but the room we were in couldn’t be given 1 star in my opinion. £200 for 3 nights seemed reasonable when booking but the room we had was never worth that. My advice would be, spend a bit more and go elsewhere.

I booked for 3 nights but after staying 2 nights I left after getting horrible services. first day we haven’t got any room service than I asked few times to the staff to clean my rooms but nobody cleaned . I asked for trash bag they said they don’t have any 🙂 . I went there with my small baby and the room heating wasn’t working I asked few times they don’t even care.Awful!!! That’s literally ridiculous. Such a poor service, I’m not going there anymore and won’t suggest anyone to waste there money 🙂

I really enjoyed our stay at Columba Hotel, cannot fault anything! The room was extremely clean and comfortable, bed and pillows just the right softness, it was also warm and spacious. The staff were super friendly and were also happy to accommodate our cat! The decor was a nice combination of traditional and modern. Location in the city centre was perfect but not noisy, car park is within walking distance so parking was not an issue. I would definitely stay here again!

My friend and I stayed 2 nights for 80 pound. It was paid for on her card. I mentioned to the staff that my room had black mold growing in the shower and it was quiet disgusting. After we checked out, my friend was charged 100 because the room "Smelt of Weed" and was unusable. My friend smokes tobacoo while im a Marlbro man myself. She accidentally snapped a cigarette so I put it into one of her cigarette papers and disgarded the butt in the bin. This butt is the evidence. They say in the welcome book that smoking will result in a 150 pound charge but nowhere do they mention a charge for a butt in the bin leading to false accusations all because I mentioned black mold. Stay away people. Not a nice place to stay. She will claim it back thru a bank dispute. AND WE DONT SMOKE CANNIBIS!!!!!
