Very traditional, almost old fashioned and will need to have some substantial refurbishment fairly soon. But: lovely setting, good food, friendly and hard working staff. Our room was disappointing, dark, although quite spacious and mattresses/twin beds would have been decrepit in the 1980's. We didn't get much sleep. more

We were recommended this place by a deer stalker about 8 years after spending several days backpacking through the mountains. We arrived very grubby and unwashed and with a very muddy dog. Stepping into the grand hallway complete with log fire we thought 'they ain't gonna want us here". Duncan (manager/chef) immiediatley welcomed us, invited us to dry our boots... more

Our only mistake with the Glenfinnan House Hotel was that during our journey through Scotland we only booked one night here. Our room overlooked Loch Shiel and Ben Nevis and was truly amazing. The ride through the highlands to get here was very enjoyable. We took our time and arrived late after the dining room had closed but without our... more

We stayed for one night late March 2009, the second night of our seven night self-drive tour around Scotland. We had a very nice time and do recommend this hotel to others. Our party of 4 were the only guests that night, and the very friendly and accommodating East European staff said we didn't need room keys as we were... more

We loved this hotel. We took a room with a view over the Loch towards the Jacobite monument, and the view when we got up the first morning was breathtaking. We just sat in the window seat and watched the mist over the Loch for ages. The food was really, really good - lots of it locally sourced and the... more

We picked this place for its location, price and quality of the food. It's set on Loch Shiel near the Glenfinnan monument and the views are spectacular as are the walking and other activities such as fishing, bird watching, etc. The hotel itself is quite old fashioned but not scruffy and letting itself go like some hotels we have stayed... more

Our favourite place that we stayed on our tour of the area. It's a lovely old house in a spectacular location. The rooms are not a high point but they're fine, comfortable and clean with inoffensive decor (harder to find than you might think!). The building is lovely, you're really in a country house hotel, and the location is absolutely... more

Our room was disappointing - small with creaking floorboards. The bathroom however was very spacious. It has been a long time since we stayed in a hotel with no television. There was a welcoming roaring log fire in the hall and a friendly bar serving suppers and informal meals. We ate in the dining room where the food was of... more

We were originally booked into the Prince's Lodge, but switched to Glenfinnan House as we were not happy with the bedroom offered (nicer rooms were available, but we were not allowed them as we had our dog with us). We were really glad we changed. We were offered a choice of two rooms (both graded as superior), one overlooking the... more

My husband and I first spotted Glenfinnan House in 2006 and booked our wedding there after having stayed for a weekend. As a result, we've stayed and dined at the hotel on several occasions over a period of two years, whilst sorting out wedding arrangements. In July 2008, we got married there and the first thing I did after returning... more
