The log cabins are situated in the most idyllic spot. The views over Loch Lochy are just spectacular - it doesn't matter what the weather is like as the scenery is just as dramatic even on a misty/rainy day. We have been 4 times now to this site and have enjoyed it every time. The cabins are quite small so will suit a couple or small family best. If you fancy a highland retreat and some peace and quiet, this is the place to go. The owner, Janet, is very helpful and lives in one of the cabins - the other 2 are rented out. Both the cabins to rent look directly onto the Loch. Well worth the trip. more

We searched the world over for a decent "self-catering cabin" in the Scottish Highlands for our recent April 2-week vacation. There were five of us - myself and my husband and my three young step-daughters. The Highland Lodges are off the beaten path (2 mile dirt/gravel road from the nearest main road) but then again, in the Highlands, EVERYTHING is off the beaten path. It truly is "the land that time forgot." The lodges (there are two of them for rent, with the owner living in the 3rd one) are situated on Loch Lochy - a gorgeous lake/river - and nestled in between two mountain ranges. GORGEOUS. The lodges themselves offer everything you need minus food and towels. The nearest store is about a 10-minute drive and they're more "convience shops" than actual stores. There is a store "Morrison's" about 35 minutes away in Fort William. (Ironically, this was our favorite town for shopping and eating. Very charming - lots to do and see... more
