Having read a number of conflicting recent reviews on this website I was in two minds whether to book a "getaway" weekend with my husband here. However; the location and type of accommodation (comfortable, rural, in stunning scenery) seemed right so I went ahead. We had an excellent weekend - starting with a free taster of hot freshly caught and... more

We stayed at the Glenelg Inn in November as a last minute weekend break. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The Inn itself is very cosy with a nice roaring fire and comfy seats. Our room was a very large double with a huge bed and lovely bathroom. We thought the menu was a bit limited... more

In reading these reviews, it appears that the quality of one’s stay at Glenelg Inn might be determined by who is working there on the day. That said, we must have lucked out, because we had a terrific stop-over there. Glenelg Inn sits on the water, about a mile directly across from the southeast tip of Skye. It’s a truly... more

We stayed at Glenelg for a week in October and visited the pub three times and ate there twice. Each time we were made to feel welcome and found out some good local info on wildlife and places to go. Both meals were very very good, used local ingredients, and were cooked extremely well. Service was warm and friendly. This... more

I'm sorry to say we were treated appallingly by the staff of the Glen Elg Inn. We stopped here for dinner, and after a frosty reception, we were ushered away from the completely empty dining room and on to a table in the bar which was far too small for us. There were not enough chairs at the table and... more

On arraval we were imediately disipointed with the attatute of the staff. When informed our two double rooms which were prebooked were unavailable and we were forced into single rooms. At this point it looked as though things were looking up as we entered the bar with its warm atmosphere and friendly locals. We ended up having a excellent evening.... more

This place was lovely the staff very friendly and the room very nice. We had heard that it had changed hands and it was very the better. It is hard to find a nice highland hotel that does not stray towards coach parties. fortunately the road in and out would not encourage coaches. Lovely time. more

We recently had the good fortune to rent a cottage in the lovely village of Glenelg and spent many an hour in the Glenelg Inn enjoying the hospitality and good food on offer, The Inn is located in the heart of the village overlooking the Isle of Skye and caters for both visitors and locals alike. We ate in the... more

I have just come back from a week in the Glenelg Inn, my highest hopes all realised. Wonderful charming host Sheila and her friendly hardworking and attentive staff ran effortlessly around our mixed family group - all demands met with humour. We loved the atmosphere - open fire, real village pub and cozy pretty rooms, and my teenager and other... more

Two of the best nights’ accommodation my wife and I have enjoyed for a very, very long time. Excellent ambience. Friendly locals. Professional and attentive staff. A charming host. Tasty food ... the fish and chips was better than the UK’s No. 1 fish-and-chip shop in Biggar; and the fresh prawns were cooked to perfection. My poached eggs and well-done... more
