My wife and I stayed at the Newton of Budgate B&B near Nairn on a recent vacation to Scotland. Budgate is a working sheep & cattle farm - though tourists do not get near the operation of the farm. Picturesque does not express the surrounding country.
Irene Mac Arthur runs the B&B and the level of help and courtesy could not be higher. She helped us to get a tour of my ancestral castle (Kilvarock, about 2 miles from Budgate), gave great advice for places to see not on our plan (we planned extra time), recommended excellent places to eat, and served a fine breakfast.
She set up a meeting with folks at the Nairn museum who had info on my ancestors.
The facilities were excellent. I do not know what star rating the B&B has but it must be high. You get to sleep listening to the river Nairn pass by - it is in the back yard of the house.
Ms Irene even aided us in getting a tire for our rental replaced in a manner that did not cost us a half day or so...
