My friend & I have enjoyed staying at Birchwood Hotel for the last 3 years. We found the owners Viv & John most attentive and welcoming. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and peaceful. What appealed to us most was the excellent variety of food, freshly cooked and attractively presented for each meal. more

I have been returning to the Birchwood Hotel on an annual basis for over twenty years originally with my wife and various members of our family but lately on my own. I have a number of criteria for hotels which include efficiency, value for money, cleanliness, qualityand presentation of food, friendliness/ hospitality --- all of which are met by the... more

Perthshire may well be the most perfect county in Scotland and the Birchwood experience, returning for my fifth year, is similarly utterly charming. A convenient distance out of the town centre, an atmosphere of relaxation seems to begin even in the tree-shaded car park . All rooms used have been pleasant and the resident's lounge is spacious and comfortable if... more

I have stayed at the Birchwood every year for the past thirty years, and have found it extremely comfortable. Situated on the edge of the town in its own grounds, it is always quiet and peaceful. Under the present owners Viv and John Holmyard, it is a home from home. Nothing is too much for the benefit of their guests.... more

The good points are that the hotel was pleasently situated, had nice gardens and plenty of parking. The room was very large with lots of storage space (there was even a sofa in the room without looking cluttered). You can also get a nice looking evening meal. However, what was missing was the little extras that you get at the... more

My elderly Aunt and I stayed at Birchwood for a week. We had comfortable rooms, and enjoyed being looked after by John and Viv,.The Food was tasty, fresh and provided in sensible proportions. With the attentiveness of John, I felt we were at a Fawlty Towers where everything went right! We saw lots of red squirrels. I would unhesitatingly recommend... more

Birchwood Hotel was excellent, our hosts were fantastic and could not do enough for us. We found them on a pitlochry bed and breakfast site and were very lucky that they could accommodate us. How often do you get accommodation that will go the extra mile. If we ever decide to return to Pitlochry will will make sure the Birchwood... more

The Birchwood was the base for our annual Spring golf tour to Scotland from Matlock GC. This hotel really does live up to its description on its website and all the previous reviews are accurate. John is an ideal host - responsive and attentive but not obtrusive. Viv is an excellent chef. There are nice little touches that speak of... more
