I think this is a situation where I just ended up with a bad room--or two. When I first checked in I was given a room that had not been cleaned. Towels in the shower, beds mussed etc...They switched my room and the second room smelled like a wet dog had stayed there the night before. I left my windows... more

Stayed here for three nights as part of a wildlife tour. Our room (in one of the chalets which I understand are better than those in the main building) was basic but comfortable and perfectly acceptable. Located in village of Baltasound on the island of Unst, Shetland. Nicely located in centre of Unst & I think it is the only hotel on Unst. Great views aroundabout - especially from lounge bar. I stayed in semi detached wooden chalet in grounds next to main hotel building. Not new but OK, twin bedded with small shower room. All... more

My then 17 year old daughter,my 70 year old uncle,and I (50 year old man) had a delightful time visiting Baltasound. The hotel is well run. The pub has a good 'feel' to it and the staff were very friendly. I would love to go and spend a few days just hanging out there at night. My 'Shetland Cousin" Cecil... more
