Iona is an amazing island, very popular with day visitors going to the Abbey but it's well worth staying over night or even better for a few days so that you can see the whole place and relax a bit. We stayed at Shore Cottage B&B, run by Mrs MacDonald which has the best location and facilities on the island - there were even homemade biscuits when we arrived. Our room had a seaview and great decor and the breakfast was delicious with fresh Iona eggs. All the rooms have en-suite and there's a sunroom where you can relax and enjoy the view across to Mull. If it's raining there is a selection of books and games to play in the lounge and unlike other places on the island each room has a TV - handy for watching the weather forecast even if you like to escape from the TV on your holiday.
Can't recommend it highly enough! Mrs MacDonald was even able to book us on a trip to Staffa which again is highly recommended.
