I had booked this hotel for four nights at the end of September.
Apart from the general drabness of the place and the musty smell of my room, this hotel failed in one major way:
My third night there I got back to the hotel rather late, although it was before midnight. I found myself locked out. There was absolutely no way in. I had left the key at the hotel as it was too big to go in my pocket.
I had been phoning them from about 11-30 that evening to make sure they would be open to let me in. No answer. They had actually shut the hotel down at 11-30. This must be unique in the entire world.
There was nothing I could do. I tried the police but they said that as no crime had been committed there was nothing they could do to help me.
So I was left standing on the pavement outside at midnight with nowhere to go.
Luckily the pub next door was open so I went in and spoke to a few of the locals.
