I've just come back after a few days with my group of high-school students. Our time on Cape was wonderful and much of this was due to the fantastic hostel - and the help Richie was always ready to provide. We'd already stayed at another hostel on the mainland and my students could scarcely believe the cleanliness, the facilities and... More

This was our first trip to Ireland, and decided to visit Cape Clear almost on a whim. There are few options for lodging on the island, so we picked this, hoping for the best. That turned out to be exactly what we got - the best. The hostel is immaculate, but still quite comfortable, and has a stunning view of... More

Myself and a friend stayed here in August. We were given a very nice welcome by the charasmatic owner who showed us around the spotlessly clean and well-maintained hostel. The communal area is made of what appears to be a cross between a nautical museum and a livingroom and has a big open fire. There is a very large kitchen... More

My mate and I stayed at the cape clear hostel and we were delighted with every aspect of our stay. The hostel was perfectly clean and the toilet facilities were excellent. There was tea, coffee, milk and butter for all to use. The living room was like a little museum and there was a lovely fire lit at night and... More

I came to Cape Clear for the first time with two colleagues and over forty schoolchildren! Perhaps a recipe for disaster! But with Richie's unceasing help, assistance and good will the trip ran splendidly. Cape Clear Hostel is perfectly run and supplies all that you could wish for. It is an ideal base-camp from which to explore one of Ireland's... More

Just back from our first trip to Cape Clear (Oileán Chléire). The weather was beautiful, which probably helped! We booked a family room in the Cape Clear Hostel, and were more than happy with it. We're not your typical hostel visitors & were a bit anxious about booking, but the hostel was ideal for us. The first thing we noticed... More

Cape Clear and this hostel was the favorite part of our trip to Ireland. The location is outstanding, beautiful, full of history and charm. The hosts Richard and Sinead were very kind, interesting and generous. The island is wonderful, full of beautiful sights - both historic and natural. The ferry was fun. On the way back we were followed by... More

I had the good fortune of being able to take a couple of days after a meeting in Cork to head out to the southwest coast and the highlight of my trip was the two days and one night that I spent on Cape Clear Island. While the weather in Cork was typical for mid-March, cool and damp, my days... More

I've travelled all over the world and I have to say that Richard and Sinead are simply the nicest hosts I've ever had the pleasure to stay with... Cape Clear Hostel is basic, clean, airy, cheap (Considering the lack of accommodation). The Island (Year round) is fantastic. Go there SOON!!! 6 out of 5. More

Had a wonderful stay on Cape Clear at the hostel. The hostel managers are very friendly and make you feel at home - its the best hostel I have ever stayed in. The place is bright and airy, it is very clean, the kitchen is well equiped, the beds are nice, and there are lovely sea views from the rooms... More
