Sheila's is a pretty typical hostel as far as amenities go. I certainly didn't regret staying there, but I didn't feel the safest. The building itself is an odd labyrinth of rooms and levels. It feels kind of like an abandoned school. The kitchen is industrial and confusing to use. I'm not sure if I would have felt very secure... more

Very friendly atmosphere, had a few great nights there. Very cool location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only bad point is the breakfast, which is not free and poor. Def good place for a few nights stay. more

Great staff and free parking in a bad area of town. The internet did not always work, but it was free and they had computers. more

I had no problems staying at this hostel, but would probably pick a different one next time I'm in Cork. Some of the staff were a bit distant and aloof - although the rest were lovely - and weren't much help in giving directions to the room, which I soon discovered was a bit of a challenge to find! The... more

I stayed here for 2 nights in an 8 bed mixed dorm. The rooms are extremely bare. There were 4 sets of bunkbeds, a small trash bin, and that's it. No mirror, no table/chairs, no places to hang things, etc. There were 2 small windows set high up in the ceiling, so they provided very little natural light and could... more

This could be a great place, but it's not. There are some good things about this hostel, but it's nowhere near as good as it sounds. The rooms are very small, beds are close together. Some of the selling points are things like the sauna and theater room. I did not use the sauna so cannot comment, but the theater... more

We stayed one night in rooms for four and six people, they were quite small but nice (there isn't furniture, only one small mirror and one hanger which are very useful). The hostel was clean (even rooms and shared baths), comfortable beds, large kitchen, large dinning room...it wasn't a new building but it was very decent. The staff was nice... more

Our room was very small, but clean enough and had a great view of the city . There's no elevator, so be prepared to possibly lug your stuff up the stairs to the third floor. The guest kitchen was clean and well stocked with pots and pans but many of the burners did not work. Front desk staff were helpful... more

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights, in a twin room with a private bathroom. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom was absolutely fine. Linens and towels were provided. I think we lucked out with the location of our room, as it was on the top floor, right next to the door for the rooftop patio,... more

We stayed one night at Sheila's on a road trip around Ireland in July 2008. Thank goodness it was only one night. I have to preface this by saying my accommodation requirements are far more picky than my husband's (the seasoned back packer and hostel goer that he is)....but even he found it a little gross! It really could have... more
