We just came the first time to Ireland, Dublin, and at the same week, we wanted to take a look the other cities in this country too. We choosed Cork. And luckily after spending one night in this city in another place, we found this lovely Butter Market House! It fellt like home to us! An Irish home! We loved... More

We were there for the Jazz festival at the end of October, supporting our son's band. On our last morning we had to nip out earlier than expected, after a very rushed breakfast, to help pack up the equipment. On our return mid-morning we were invited to sit down, chat and enjoy a late breakfast at our leisure, whllst Martin... More

We had a lovely time at the Butter Market House in late September. It is located in the quiet and charming historic district, just a ten minute walk to Cork's city center. The Purcells are easy going, warm, friendly, and gracious hosts. The accommodations are immaculate. Martin is knowledgeable about all aspects of the area and prepares a great traditional... More

What a wonderful place to stay; it's difficult to imagine finding a better bed and breakfast experience. Martin was a superb host - welcoming, friendly, informative and amusing - really the personification of the best of Ireland. Butter Market House is in a great location, barely five minutes on foot to the very centre of Cork, and it's very comfortable... More

We stayed for a couple of nights in this B&B. It is brilliantly located, opposite the Firkin Crane Centre, and a short walk to anywhere you might want to go in Cork. We needed secure parking and that is exactly what we got - Martin parked our car for us through a roller-shutter door, in the back of the house.... More

Martin and Margaret are the best! My husband and I are huge Rory Gallagher fans and Martin drove us out to where Rory is buried just outside of Cork, which was very moving to me and one of the highlights of our trip. By the way all you Rory fans, Martin went to school with Rory! I got sick while... More

If you want to discover the personality of Cork, then you'll enjoy staying in this historic family-run Cork guesthouse. A warm welcome from Martin is guaranteed, as is a spotless room, a great Irish breakfast, no traffic noise and a location within a few minutes walk of the town centre. Not to mention as much advice on the locality as... More

To be honest, i think Martin and Margaret are the best hosts you can ever find. They are really lovely and caring, always up for help, ideas (even if its about medicine..) and a little chat or a history lesson of Cork and the county. The rooms and the bathroom were very clean, the bed very comfortable. It is actually... More

This is a wonderful B&B located in the old Buttermarket square of the Shandon district on the North side of the Lee, in Cork city. Narrow streets and lanes, timeless multicoloured buildings side by side, quiet, and a district hovering between conservation of the past and gentrification of the newly renovated. A great combination for a stay, and our first... More
