Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great and friendly staff who'll help with anything you need. Rooms are cleaned daily by staff and are spotless. Would seriously recommend staying here for a holiday in the city. It's close to the city.

Perhaps I got lucky and my experience was exceptional, but having booked a single-occupancy room for one night (at 102 Euro) I was somewhat surprised (after a very warm and sincere welcome) to be guided to a detached bungalow behind the adjacent Crawford House. The "room" included a double bedroom, bathroom, and rather spacious kitchen / living area fully equipped with a kitchen table and separate coffee table, sofa, microwave, full oven with hob, fridge, and all utensils. To be honest, it was mostly surplus to requirement for my short stay, but as I hadn't booked breakfast the fridge, toaster, and microwave came in useful by making me self-sufficient and enabling me to enjoy breakfast without venturing outside. The room lacked the delux finish of a more modern hotel, and it would be fair to say that the furniture was tired. However, it was spotlessly clean and functional, with a comfortable bed and sofa. The shower was also good. A standard room without any of the extras in any nearby hotel would have offered me a more polished display but at well over twice the price (I know this, because I investigated the alternatives when booking a month earlier). I would choose comfort and convenience every time, and use the money I save for other things. The location, just across the road from the main gates of UCC and a ten minute walk from the city centre, is ideal, and there is a large private car park at the rear of the premises.

Stayed here to be close to the Bon Secours Hospital as we had a had a very early appointment, walking distance to hospital was ideal, room turned out to be like an apartment set up which was perfect with a small baby for extra space, everything was spotless, staff extremely friendly, great location would definitely stay here again

Stayed one night in Killarney guesthouse, Cork. Very disappointed. Smell of damp in my self contained apartment, it was cold and the bed was not terribly comfortable. It cost €107 and they wanted another €9 for breakfast. If I had been paying half the price the standard would have been commensurate with the cost. It was a ripoff in my opinion.

This did the job, I was only in the city for one night. The room was clean and the guest house is a short hop into the city centre. Decor isn't great, customer service isn't great and it wasn't the most comfortable sleep. But like I said, I was only there for one night and I needed somewhere to lay my head and this was fine.

Lovely stay at Crawford house. Margaret was friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable. Very conveniently located for all the wonderful bars and restaurants that Cork has to offer. We will definitely stay again. The Walshes (+Liam)

I have stayed here many times over a long period of time and I expect to return again. The location is very convenient and there is always adequate car parking available. I was given a very nice bright room in Crawford House next to Killarney Guest House.

My husband and I stayed over the weekend. The bungalow was nice but very cold (they had a portable heater which did not heat the apartment) Told reception and they said they will put on the heat in the apartment that’s night. They did not. Bring your woollies. Otherwise in a good location.

We booked a twin room for 2 nights and were assured that included breakfast. We paid on arrival. The room itself was fine - mainly - comfortable bed but one very squeaky to sit on or move in. The bathroom door didn't close at all - it could be closed over but movement in the bathroom caused the door to open. The drain was very slow in the bath - when the second person wanted to have a shower there was still water from first shower in the tub - not good enough at all! Breakfast was the big let down. A small table in the dining room contained a range of cereals in open bowls, 2 bowls of tinned fruit, and a few baskets contained stale scones and sliced bread going stale. We asked about a menu for cooked breakfast and were told they didn't provide cooked breakfast. We were astonished as we had never come across an Irish B&B that didn't provide a cooked breakfast. As an attempt at an explanation we were told that all of the local B&Bs were only serving continental breakfast and that the chef was on holidays this week! In July in Ireland! The owner approached us and sought to justify the absence of cooked food saying it was on all the literature - but we had seen no literature as we had booked by phone. We felt we had no choice but to leave after just one night. In short - would not recommend and won't be returning!
