Reception staff were welcoming and pleasant. We were given a choice of rooms even though both had there inadequacies. One room being right over the disco, the other had the kitchen extractorfan flue noise up to 10.30pm . We opted for the flue room 116 ,considering we were late night sleepers.Over our two nite stay they kitchen flue was at... more

This is a lovely hotel in an excellent location. I had been warned by a friend to make sure my room was not over the night club and when I arrived I found my room was over the club. There was no problem moving but I had to put up with the kitchen fans behind the wall. I was informed... more

I stayed here with my wife and two young children in July 2009. We booked via the hotel's contracted web site booking engine what is described as a 'Family Room' suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. The Family Room is more expensive than the advertized 'Double Room' by some EUR25 per night. Upon arrival and check-in we were greeted... more

I stayed here for 2 nights b&b and a dinner for €99 euro per person. The service was excellent and we all had a great weekend. Food was exceptional considering it was part of a package deal. There wouldn't be a lot to do here if the sun wasn't shining, thankfully there was a good crowd of us and the... more

Be cautious, very cautious if you are considering reserving this hotel, in particular over a festive period. I had originally reserved 2 rooms at Downings Bay but our arrangements changed and when I contacted the hotel to cancel 1 room, I was told I would lose the 100 euro deposit I had paid! I gave them 6 weeks prior notice... more

Found this hotel online and booked over their own website. Downings Bay Hotel is situated in the centre of the village of Downings, on the North Coast of Donegal, about 40 minutes from Letterkenny. The hotel is fairly new, clean and tidy and has access to a Leisure Centre. Possibly the best feature of this hotel is its location, you... more

The rooms at Downings Bay Hotel are nice and modern, and clean, The reception area was full of kids running around, crazy and noisy - I suspect lots of tourists can come in to have a drink and get warm. Everything was going OK until the middle of the night, when the 'Niteclub' attached to the hotel started up -... more

Nice hotel. Still new looking. We checked in only to discover a pair of soiled pants hanging from the shower rail. Went to reception, explained this and were apologised to. The situation was handled (excuse the pun) professionally. The offending pants were removed. We ate in the bar that evening, it was very busy. However an hour and a half wait... more
