Ashfield House had a great location and that was all that mattered to us because we didnt spend a whole lot of time there. We were able to go anywhere we wanted from this location, so it made our three days in Dublin very easy. The front desk people gave us some bad directions, so you may want to avoid... more

Ashfield House was the first hostel we stayed at out of three, which was good, since it wasn't the best of the bunch. It's not that it's a bad hostel just not the cleanest and the breakfast was less than be desired (cereal and toast). The location, however, is fantastic. A short walk to the Temple Bar area and most... more

First the positive point - the location is amazing, next to Trinity College, O'Connell Bridge, 24hr mini-marts and most importantly the Temple Bar area. However, that's probably were the positives end. Definitely not the cleanest of places, our room was a bit cramped and our bathroom was not in the most hygienic condition. Even an employee advised us to wear... more

This is the worst hostel I have ever been in. I highly recommend against going there. The room was the dirtiest I have ever seen (the sheets had not been changed and blond hair was all over them). Even a member of the staff advised us to be careful where we step in the toilet, because it is filthy. Apart... more

This hostel reaches the standard value of other hostels I've visited. Clean, perfect situated, friendly staff and quite (though, we've resided at the backside of the hostel). Breakfast is simple but OK. I can't imagine a better service for the price i've paid. I can't understand the negative reviews over here. A stay at Ashfield House meets my standards for... more

Was a bit worried about staying here after the reviews. Got lucky and had 3 considerate people in my room. I did have some trouble sleeping with the traffic noise but not much noise from clubs as I'd feared. Bunk bed was OK and room clean, room seemed warm enough for me. Great location and felt quite safe in the... more

first time both in dublin and in a hostel but was pleasantly surprised. The hostel was clean, nothing to worry about, and the location was just amazing. It was so so close to the bars of temple bar, O'Connell street and the river liffey and the 16A bus runs direct from the airport to the hostel and only costs less... more

Booked this hostel due to the fact that it was so close to Temple Bar area. On our way to the room the place did look a bit run down -carpet was a bit tatty... hopefully changed by now but nothing to put you off staying here. Rooms were as we expected clean with bunk beds, four of us stayed... more

There is no reason at all to stay in this hostel. We booked a private room for 2 persons, 1 night (how lucky!), following the suggestion of a major travel book which claimed the hostel was clean, and similar to a small hotel. We paid 80 euros to get: 1) a tiny room, uncomfortable bed; 2) view (if you could... more

They threw away three bottles of wine, two beers and the rest of our groceries, THEN blamed us. I've been hostelling for over twenty years and always label my food--it was the 'customer is always wrong' at this place and 'sorry there is no manager on duty' at all times of the day and night. The disposal of our food... more
