The location is superb - as other reviewers have said, it's seconds away from transport links, right in the Temple Bar area, close to many of the city's highlights. On arrival, the receptionist couldn't have cared less about us, and didnt confirm our reservation. Our room (2 beds in a 6 bed dorm) wasn't ready but we could leave our... more

I stayed here with a couple of girl friends. After reading some reviews I was slightly skeptical however, I arrived to a comforting welcome. All staff I encountered was extremely helpful and friendly, and interesting to chat to. The rooms were small but clean. COuld afford overall make over (I hope the owners/directors take notice, as eventhough cleaners can clean... more

A filthy kip. Comes with unhelpful, zombie staff, shoe-adhering carpet, suspicious stains on used sheets, unidentifiable goo under the radiator, horror-inducing quilt covers - please, don't touch my face. A pricey doss house. Such a pity, as it has an enviable location. Be warned. more

As all other options in Dublin appeared to have been booked solid for the All Ireland Football Final weekend, my husband and I booked a twin en-suite room at Ashfield House. Good location, if noisy, though this was not the problem. The filthy staircase was a problem. The dirty walls and carpet - problem. And then - the unchanged bed,... more

First off, the location is by far the best! It literally is steps from Trinity College, Temple Bar area, and the O'Connell Bridge. However, the staff was not very accomodating. Upon checking in for 4 nights, we were told that they had a room for us for the first 2 nights but they weren't sure where to put us yet... more

As budget hotels go, this accommodation is top of the class. When we arrived around 9pm at night, the place was quite lively and the staff extremely friendly. One of the staff even drew us a map of the bars and pubs around Dublin. - Very useful! 6 of us stayed in a 6 bed room. this was very clean... more

After having booked our stay I came upon some really bad reviews of Ashfield house on the internet, so I was prepared for the worst. One of the reasons we chose the hostel was the 24 hour reception since we only arrived in Dublin around midnight. Check-in was friendly and quick so that we were still able to explore some... more

My husband and I stayed in a double room with an ensuite shower. The room was cleaned every day to a good standard. Three freinds stayed in a 4-bed dorm room which was also clean. The breakfast was white bread to be toasted, cornflakes and orange juice, so basic but baring in mind what you pay to stay here in... more

...and by smell I don't mean traffic but that RANK STENCH when opening the door to the largest dormitory! It was.... horrible. No air, hot and clammy (although not at all warm outside...) and this horrible stench from sweaty people. Not even the open windows during the days helped! Unfortunately the "no air hot and clammy" condition prevailed at the... more

Ashfield House had a great location and that was all that mattered to us because we didnt spend a whole lot of time there. We were able to go anywhere we wanted from this location, so it made our three days in Dublin very easy. The front desk people gave us some bad directions, so you may want to avoid... more
