I had booked to stay in this hostel for six nights, but could only tolerate it for two. The standard of CLEANLINESS is dire – everywhere you look you find dirt and squalor; carpets are so soiled your soles stick to them, the bedding is disgusting – duvets are OLD and MOULDY, I witnessed the bedding changes twice and the... more

We moved to here from the Dublin City Bunkhouse after being very unimpressed with the treatment we received there. Advance warning for Marlborough Hostel: this is budget accommodation and they don't pretend to be flashy. There is no pretence with this plae, they don't claim to be the unique cutting edge amazing renovated georgian townhouse cleanesr and best in the... more

I spent three nights in the Marlborough Hostel, and I think it's one of the best hostels I've stayed in (and I've stayed in my fair share of hostels). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great, with good variety, the location was very close to everything, and the rooms were clean and spacious. They even have... more

Just stayed at the Marlborough with 3 others in a 4 bed room, we had no worries at all, staff very friendly and welcoming, Hostel very clean and at the moment having a refurb, which is looking great. Only problem was lack of hot water........but for 2 days didnt matter too much. The location was perfect just a ten minute... more

We were a group of 6 that were away for a friends 30th. Staff replied promptly to our emails before we arrived. Door staff were friendly on arrival, then seemed a bit grumpy after that. Room was spacious but a bit drafty as the windows didn't close properly. Wasn't 100% sure that the sheets were clean ones. When you take... more

My friend and I stayed at Marlborough early February for two nights. We found the reception to be a little on the cold side, they could have been a little bit more welcoming. Once inside, the lounge is inviting but you would not spend your nights there. There is free Wi-Fi available in lounge area only, and computers with a... more

I am an American student studying abroad in London for the semester and Dublin was our first weekend trip outside of London. We found the hostel no problem but the neighborhood it was in was a bit on the shady side. There were a lot of homeless people on and around Marlborough Street and it wasn't very clean. On the... more

I was with a crowd of 7 30-something female friends celebrating one of their birthdays. We go on holiday together once a year but normally stay in 3* hotels so we were all slightly nervous at staying in a hostel for the first time - thankfully all of our worries were unnecessary. On other websites there were reviews of the... more

The room looked really ok, just bring you own sheets and you'll have a perfect stay! Y0u also get you... more

The location of the hostel is really the only good thing about it. The staff was not overly friendly and even sometimes cold. The rooms had dirty sheets, little heat and squeeky doors throughout (which as you can imagine makes sleeping difficult with people often coming and going). Showers and bathrooms were dirty and in need of upkeep and maintenance.... more
