As Patrick Swayze said in Roadhouse, “opinions vary”. I’d have loved this property IF I were a 1st time traveler and IF had not been already spoiled by Marriott. When one selects a hotel, the intent is usually to sleep, something that will be challenging here due to the gap at the bottom of the room door admitting both light & sound. And the bed cover choice is either remove it & freeze or use it & soak the covers with sweat. The shower head is suitable only for midgets as it is not adjustable so that one is compelled to press against the wall to rinse off. We requested wash cloths for the shower & were told they do not have them. On a positive note, it was well located, the lobby coffee bar was EXCELLENT. We did not dine there but the restaurant appearance & menu looked very inviting. Staff was business polite but not exceptionally friendly. The issues I note are easily addressed & I wish them much & fortune.

From check in to check out…. Smooth…. And friendly helpful staff. I’ve stayed many a night in the Academy Plaza over the years & it just gets better and better. Lovely newly refurbished rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, iron & ironing board if id of needed it. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious, the homemade soup was just what I needed. Followed by a slap up steak. My shower was as hot or cool as I’d wanted with shampoo and shower gel which turned in handy as I’d forgot mine. Breakfast as good as always. I had fruit with yogurt followed by a fry up, nice & filling. Coffee was plentiful and fruit juice also. 20 minute walk to the 3 Olympia on Dame Street where we attended the Stranglers. Called into the Quays pub in Temple bar on our short walk home. Live music, not bad for a Tuesday night. This hotel is in a great location, arrived by bus and returned home by bus, stop is only 5 minutes walk away. It’s the staff that make this hotel home from home. Thanks Academy Plaza, we shall be back.

Hotel is very conviniently located in the north side of the Liffey River. In a more quiet zone but very close to all the attractions, walkable It is 10 minutes walk from Temple Bar. Room size was ok, bed and bathroom ok too. Enough for what is needed, hotel has full bar and breakfast buffet. I choose it because I wanted to be close to all but not too close that the noise would not let me sleep. Room has usb port to charge, it has safe and AC ( i did not use it) Bathroom is a little small but sufficient. It has a big club next door, but no noise was felt. If you wanr to party you can and just get out the door and be at the hotel.

We found the Academy Plaza somewhat by chance when looking for hotels in Dublin. We were drawn by the price and images that showed updated rooms. Our three night stay was everything we could have hoped for. The location is within walking distance of Trinity College, the Temple Bar area, and pretty much most of the attractions we enjoyed during our time in Dublin. Our booking did not include breakfast, but it was well worth the additional small cost for the great fuel to start the day! The bar staff were also great when I went down for a couple pints trying to fight off the jet lag on the first night. Speaking of the first day/night, we were so fortunate and impressed that staff were able to get us into a room when we arrived at 6:30 AM. We definitely did not expect this but the couple extra hours of sleep really got our trip off to a fantastic start. We would definitely stay here again!

Pros: This is easily the best hotel I've stayed at in Ireland (and I've been to a few). The room has all the facilities you may need and more, and is impeccably kept. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is abundant. Location is right in the heart of Dublin and makes a great base to travel around (although the city centre does get rather dodgy at times). The price was pretty reasonable for Ireland (although it's usually much higher). Staff are usually helpful. Restaurant was also good. Cons: The room wasn't exactly quiet - mechanical ventilation outside the window causes continuous noise, as well as cleaning staff and passers-by. I was also woken one night by a loud argument in a nearby room. The great location has its downsides - it doesn't always feel very safe at night. Probably that's why one evening, shortly after midnight, I had a hard time convincing the receptionist to let me in after the doors had been locked.

Excellent central hotel with quiet, comfortable rooms. Heating was ample and adjustable and the showers luxurious. Very pleasant staff and reasonably priced. The airport buses stop two minutes walk from the hotel which is very useful when it is raining! My only suggestion would be to allow guests to keep their towels if they wish to do so. Every little helps the environment!

Situated in a central location, the staff were welcoming upon checking in. Our room was well decorated with a comfortable, large bed; iron & board; well fitted bathroom. We made our way to the bar for dinner and were immediately met by Lowrayny who showed us to our table and took our order. The food was good and value for money.

A fellow of mine and I spent the weekend in Dublin and stayed at the Academy Plaza. This review is written in English to make it understandable to everybody; my buddy and I are from Germany. It‘s a nice hotel with pretty rooms (we have seen two, see below). I liked the wall decorations, they make it more friendly and induce feeling comfortable. Unfortunately, I can‘t say anything about the breakfast, as it was not included in our room which I had booked via some corporate benefits. Normally, I would probably not be writing this review but there was something that left a lasting impression on my end, which I would like to share to you - namely the service at the reception. Already when checking in, Paula gave us the advice that booking via the hotel website itself may be beneficial, as e.g. breakfast would be included in every price. What was really a game changer was that we asked her for a second bed cover after inspecting our room, which was apparently designed for couples and not for two friends ( :D ) - instead of only giving us one, she immediately suggested us another room with two separate beds. This has really turned out as a funny story, and something that will forever be connected with our trip to Dublin. Also, Paula recommended some nearby places to go which allow to experience Ireland‘s nature a bit better than the crowded streets of a big city. After all, her friendly nature and the courteous service would definitely be reason enough for me to come back to the Academy Plaza if @Dublin again.
