I've read the other reviews and have to say the noise didn't bother me at all. I was at the Portobello for a week in room 212. The club itself I could never hear. When people came outside to smoke I could hear them, but it was never that bad. I brought earplugs just in case and never used them.... more

Stayed here for two nights... a Tuesday night and a Wednesday night. Breakfast was very good:-good service and good food with large portions. Room on third floor was comfortable and well equipped. No parking facilities... but reasonable good access to buses. Staff were pleasant.. BUT Advertsied wireless internet could not be obtained in our room on floor three. Tuesday night... more

We chose this hotel solely on price, and what a pleasant surprise! The Portobello has become "our" hotel in Dublin, as it offers value for price, excellent friendly service, a superb FULL breakfast, and a location close to but not in the center (allowing the guest to easily stroll the adacent Royal Canal pathways, stroll into the adjacent Rathmines neighborhood,... more

We just came back from a beautiful 3 days break in Dublin and our experience from portobello hotel has been similarly positive. Portobello is a basic but nice and cosy base to explore the city. Our 3rd floor room was fairly spacious with -a bit small indeed- double bed, wardrobe, desk and mirror, and window overlooking the canal. To our... more

We had booked to stay here for 2 nights but demanded that we leave after the first. The staff are unfriendly (particularly the night staff). You have to pay for on street metered parking which is OK but you also have to top up the parking meter ever 3 hours so have to keep popping back into the hotel. The... more

We greeted by a receptionist who appeared to be having a bad day - not the friendliest, but helpful(ish). Room was bright, clean and spacious. paint-work a bit shabby but that's not exactly vital. My husband found it quite noisy and didn't get a great sleep (our room looked over the canal, and also the street), but it didn't pose... more

I thought this hotel was excellent for the money we paid and really handy within walking distance from the city centre. Nice location and confortable accommodation and yes, the staff were second to none. For the star rating it has I would have to give it full marks. I would stay here again, but do not expect a 5 star... more

Very good hotel if you take a look at its price, the room was big and clean and so was the private bathroom. It's just 15 minutes walk from the city centre and it has the bus stop just in front, but if you want to relax more , it's only 10/15 euro by taxi from temple bar. The breakfast was good... more

Extremely noisy - the adjacent pub blasted until 2:30a.m., then the drunks on the street yelled for another hour, plus police sirens up and down the adjacent street. The shower was broken in the first room - and in the second room as well. To sum it up in the words of the day desk clerk "this is after all... more

We stayed here in October 2008 and were plesantly surprised at the quality of the hotel for the price. I was a little fearful after reading reviews on here, but we booked anyway and got a good deal for two nights costing 59 euros per night. The room was far bigger than we expected and had tea/coffee facilities. It was... more
