We greeted by a receptionist who appeared to be having a bad day - not the friendliest, but helpful(ish). Room was bright, clean and spacious. paint-work a bit shabby but that's not exactly vital. My husband found it quite noisy and didn't get a great sleep (our room looked over the canal, and also the street), but it didn't pose... more

I thought this hotel was excellent for the money we paid and really handy within walking distance from the city centre. Nice location and confortable accommodation and yes, the staff were second to none. For the star rating it has I would have to give it full marks. I would stay here again, but do not expect a 5 star... more

Very good hotel if you take a look at its price, the room was big and clean and so was the private bathroom. It's just 15 minutes walk from the city centre and it has the bus stop just in front, but if you want to relax more , it's only 10/15 euro by taxi from temple bar. The breakfast was good... more

Extremely noisy - the adjacent pub blasted until 2:30a.m., then the drunks on the street yelled for another hour, plus police sirens up and down the adjacent street. The shower was broken in the first room - and in the second room as well. To sum it up in the words of the day desk clerk "this is after all... more

We stayed here in October 2008 and were plesantly surprised at the quality of the hotel for the price. I was a little fearful after reading reviews on here, but we booked anyway and got a good deal for two nights costing 59 euros per night. The room was far bigger than we expected and had tea/coffee facilities. It was... more

Arrived at the hotel about 8pm to be greeted by a lovely man on Reception. The room was clean and the window had been left open so there was plenty of fresh air. The location is fantastic, along the canal, far enough away to not be kept awake by all the bars but easy walking distance to St Stephen's Green... more

My daughter and I took our first trip together to Dublin, London, and Paris. Being somewhat budget-minded, particularly with a view to how much the hotels would cost in London, we found this moderately priced gem in Dublin (twin room, 89 euros per night, Internet rate), over-looking the Grand Canal. The room was spotlessly clean, the shower had an endless... more

I stayed in room 307 with a friend on a short break. From the airport take the 747 to O'Connell Street and then take the 15 from Elm Street right to the hotel (get off at the next stop after Abrakebabra and the graffiti covered Love Hotel). On arrival you need to press a buzzer to be let into the... more

We went to Dublin for the Kooks concert on the bank holiday weekend and could really only find the Portobello due to the lack of accomadation available. Very nice people working there, good pub downstairs and good breakfast in the morning. However it is a bus journey/short taxi ride to get there from temple bar, but the surounding area itself... more

Noisy and cramped. Hope you do not get the tiny box room. Our elevator went out on check out day and I had to drag my bags down 4 flights of stairs. The pub below is nice. Would not repeat stay here, just barely average. The staff was pleasant, though. more
