Just returned from a 3 night stay at Dergvale. I have read other reviews and I do agree with some but not others. Hotel is dated and does need a refurb but the two rooms we booked were quite nice, both were clean and showers were good. I was disappointed to find no tea tray in the room as I... more

We stayed at the Dergvale for 2 nights last week and had the worst stay in any hotel we have ever been to. The rooms were outdated and grotty, the carpets were filthy and the bedding had holes in and looked like it belonged in the 1970s. The bathroom mirror light had a loose connection and kept going off, I... more

I have to say that by reading these reviews, I see that most of the experiences have been positive. For myself, I'm afraid I have drawn my own conclusions which are anything but positive. The 'hotel' is in quite a good location. Just about ten minutes walk from Dublin's infamous O'Connell Street. The walk is quite hilly though. Speaking of... more

The Dergvale Hotel is a lovely Georgian privately owned Hotel in a quieter part of Dublin not far from the Parnell Garden of Remembrance. The Hotel is very comfortable indeed however there are no lifts. The breakfasts are very good. The Hotel is situated at the top end of O Connell St. The other side of the river Liffey from... more

Small, clean and nice guesthouse North of the river located in what we immidiately called China Town. Freindly staff, Olga is kind. Would be nice if the receptionist had some pain killers, as I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible headache and went to ask them for a few tablets but they do not stock... more

A very nice family hotel, everyone was so friendly and helpful. I felt like home there and safe. The rooms were nice and clean, the breakfast was great and more than sufficient. O'Connell Street is in walking distance and there are buses available as well. It was such a nice stay and I would like to come back! more

What a lovely hotel to stay in! Clean, warm rooms, plenty of hot water for a shower and very friendly staff. The breakfasts were excellent too. The only slight problem was the distance into town, fine for us, ( when it was not raining) but not for older people who could find it too far. But we loved it and... more

Very friendly, welcoming and helpful. the main reason i wanted to write is that my boyfriend was rushed to hospital in the night with food poisoning and had to spend the whole of the next day in bed. we had only paid for one night but the hotel did not charge us any extra in spite of us offering. Hopefully... more

We stayed two days july 06, and it was quite pleasant. The staff was very friendly, breakfast was very good. A reason to stay there is the genuine georgian town-house architecture of the front part of the hotel. Altough parts of it are very altered, there is still a lot of interesting architectural detail to see. It hasn't been renovated... more

Be warned that the website for this hotel makes it look far nicer than it is. We did not have a terrible experience, but there were problems. First, be aware that the walls are PAPER thin. We could hear everything going on in the next rooms. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, and the phone in our room didn't work... more
