Positives +++ First impressions are great. Hotel looks great. Going through the front entrance you are greeted with marble tile floors and classical finishing and a large stair case leading up to the old part of the hotel. The hotel decor is finished to high standard, timber floors, fancy wall covering etc. The restoration / refurb is spot on. Room... more

The Royal Marine Hotel was the absolute best hotel I have stayed in during my past three visits to Europe. First of all the staff is extremely friendly, respectful, and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a great neighborhood in the Dublin suburb of Dun Laoghire. Our room was very spacious compared to other rooms in Europe and... more

We stayed at The Royal Marine for two nights as part of a tour group. This accommodation is located in a Dublin suburb a considerable distance from Central City and the airport. It is well served by light rail and by the excellent Dublin city bus service. It is within walking distance of the ferry (to England) terminal. The Royal... more

I would highly recommend this hotel. It is in a great location, on the coast. It has been renovated maintaining the old facade. The reception area is very welcoming there is a nice area for afternoon tea. Reception staff are charming and helpful. The room was a good size, very comfortable bed with a memory foam mattress and duvet. Spotlessly... more

We booked at the Royal Marine under a discounted wedding rate but even after the discount it was a little on the pricey side for what the hotel offered. The recent refurbishments seem to have done the trick but there were still a few teething problems like a faulty lift and key cards that only worked every now and then.... more

Stayed for just one night at Royal Marine. It is an excellent spot if you want to visit both Dublin (15 mins on the DART) or head south to Dalkey, Killiney, Wicklow mountains etc. 1 min from the DART (railway) station. 90 secs from the ferry. I managed to get a good rate (for Ireland!) and it is certainly cheaper... more

My Wife and I spent 4 nights in this lovely hotel. Yes, with the Euro rate Dublin is expensive for the British but just put that to one side and enjoy yourselves. This hotel gives you plenty of areas to just relax and wind down. It has a beautiful pool area with sauna, steam room and whirl pool. Please note... more

Booked early on the Internet and got the room for the price of a B&B. Really nice hotel in the centre of Dun Laoghaire two minutes from the ferry port. The public areas of the hotel are of a high standard, bedroom a little on the small side, but no worse than most city hotels. No view from the window,... more

We stayed at the Royal Marine for Valentines Day. Our 2 night break was wonderful and great value for money. We booked a special deal (330euros for 2 nts b&b including valentines 4 course dinner!). We were tempted to use the pattern flyer service but having stayed in Dublin before, we knew that it would be easy to get a... more

Apparently a rugby match with Wales was filling up the city centre hotels in Dublin, so I came across this one on the internet for three nights in early March 2008. Expedia had a deal: stay two nights, get the third one free, so it softened the cost. We caught the DART at Tara Station in Dublin and took it... more
