We stayed at Ophira on 2 seperate 2 night stays during our trip to Ireland. Dun Laoghire was central to Dublin (about 30 minutes on the train, same in the car) and Ophira is a 10 minute walk from downtown and the train and bus stations. We stayed in the family suite. The room had a very nice shower with... more

My wife and I stayed in a small room at the top of Ophira for 6 nights while we attended a workshop nearby. The room was quiet, though and well kept. Dun Laoghaire was convenient for our business, but turned out to be a lovely seaside town as well. We got down to the harbor every evening for a walk... more

The day before our vacation (and about a week before our arrival at Ophira), one of the friends on my trip broke her foot. Despite this, we found getting to and from Dun Laoghaire (think "dun leary") to Dublin easy--John was even kind enough to suggest we take one Dart station to Dublin (downhill) and another on the way home... more

We staid here on our last night of a romantic trip in Kildare. We thought that being in Dun laoghaire it would be easier for us to get back home to wexford the next day. It is located very out of the way and feels miles away from Dun laoghaire town, could not walk anywhere and when we did it... more

We stayed here on our first night in Ireland. Dun Loughaire (pronounced "Dun-Leer-y") is basically a bedroom community of Dublin. Ophira B&B is located on a crowded street on the upper hillside of Dun Loughaire. It's a nice place in a row of townhouses-- while they advertise they they have a parking pad, that pad is basically two crowded spaces... more

We stayed with John and Cathy for a night in April. We chose Ophira based on Trip Advisor recommendations and were not disappointed. The place was very clean and comfortable, our hosts very helpful. Our 14 month old daughter was travelling with us ad she was warmly welcomed. We took the DART into Dublin with no problem. The local pub,... more

We arrived in early March at the beginning of our two-week trip in Ireland. We decided on Ophira from one of the popular guide books (that recommended staying outside of Dublin). Ophira was reasonably convenient to local trains and buses, and just a few minutes from Dun Laoghaire's center. The room was clean and breakfast was good. This B&B was... more

My fiance and I stayed at Ophira for three nights in September and loved it. The room was cozy and clean and breakfast was delicious. The DART into Dublin was only a five minute walk. Dun Laoghaire had the feel of a small town while being close to the big city. There were also quite a few yummy places to... more

Got mixed-up on my days while on our trip and drove from Northern Ireland to Dun Laoghaire a day early. My wife and I arrived at the house at 7pm and I had told John that we would be there around 1pm. There was no one home so we sat in the driveway for about and hour when John came... more

We LOVED the Ophira B&B. John and Cathy were just wonderful and so accomodating and resourceful. (We decided that John was our favourite person in all of Ireland!) The beds were comfortable and we got a great night's rest. (They even provided adaptors in the rooms for forgetful folk like me!) The showers have bathtubs in case you'd like to... more
