As a frequent visitor to the Scottish Highlands , Skye & Harris this trip to Ireland was a gift to my Mom for being the greatest. After two nights at the elegant Fitzwilliam in Dublin we headed west to Cregg Castle. We where both charmed by our wonderful hosts. We loved borrowing the green wellies and taking a good long... more

I've read all of the reviews of Cregg Castle and I feel like I must chime in. We stayed there for three nights. I must agree that most of the furnishings were more worn than I had expected, but Pat and Marie were very hospitable. I personally thought that Marie initially came across as a little bit "short tempered" or... more

My husband and I, together with friends, stayed at Cregg Castle for one night. We were delighted with the lovely location and the mystery and history of the Castle. We enjoyed a lovely musical evening and the interesting company of fellow travellers, followed by a hearty and delicious Irish country breakfast in the elegant dining room (probably the best furnished... more

I didn't really know what to expect from Cregg Castle because of the mixed reviews. However, it was all that I dreamed of as a unique experience of old world charm and a real taste of Ireland. What one must realize is this is a place of not only a lodging, but a family of gentlemen farmer's and musicians who... more

Cregg Castle was one of the highlights of my holiday. Those expecting an Ashford type of castle should probably stay away. Those people who don’t like animals should also stay away. Ann Marie is a character and I can imagine that she might upset the odd person. To use an old expression she calls a spade a spade and does... more

We stayed in Cregg Castle for two nights. We are experienced travelers and found the amenities sadly lacking for the price. Details such as quality of sheets (torn), towels (thin), and inadequate bathroom facilities (lack of hot water, a toilet seat which fell off) dampened our enthusiasm. Their website led us to expect quality music performed by the hosts in... more

My husband and I stayed at Cregg Castle the first night of our trip to Ireland. I cannot imagine a more relaxing location. It was a very quiet and cozy bed and breakfast. The highlight was the music played by our hosts, Pat and AnnaMarie, by the fireplace in the family room. It felt like our own private concert and... more

My favorite place in the world to relax. After two days I was physically, mentally, emotionally replenished. The hosts, Pat and Marie, are easygoing and accomodating. They allow their castle to be your home. Their pets are hilarious. Walking the grounds can be an adventure: I met Dancing Cinderella, a once famous race horse, while nosing around the "back yard."... more

My husband and I went to Cregg Castle for our 10th wedding anniversary in August of 2004. We were tremendously impressed with the experience. Cregg Castle offers a wonderful bit of Irish tranquility and hospitality. It also serves as an excellent base from which to explore Galway and the Aran Islands. The hosts are very kind and were very willing... more
