this is a very basic hostel; if you need special foods, drinks, toiletiries, etc. you must bring them with you as there is only a small shop and not open most of the time.
but, if you love being in a quiet place, in beautiful surroundings, this is a brilliant hostel to stay. it is next to a small church. i walked from killarney through gap of dunloe to get there with a bottle of wine in my backpack - there is no pubs nearby. needless to say i was enourmously tired after my day of walking and bottle of wine and slept through the night; at the time i shared an 10-bed room with one other. the following night there was only me and one other in the whole hostel. after two nights i walked back to killarney through the national park and stayed at a very average hostel there.
only other bad point was there was no couch - very annoying for me after 20km odd walking. but you know, take a bottle of wine and you will get over it. more
