I took a leap of faith when I booked the Carriglea based on my emails with Josephine O'Reilly, proprietor. My first impression was reinforced as soon as she answered the door when we stopped to check in and drop off our bags. We were warmly greeted, shown our room, given a key and then her husband's umbrella because it had... more

I used TA to find this property and was delighted to find that Josephine had room for us on our first night in Ireland. After a very long night on the plane and a long day of Dublin and driving to Kilkenny, her gracious welcome was a wonderful experience. Our room was beautiful and spacious, and extremely comfortable. We had... more

We settled in to Carriglea after a couple of days in Dublin. Carriglea was the perfect spot to escape the busy city and unwind. The hosts are wonderful and got the fire going in the family room and joined us for a wonderful conversation. The room was very clean and comfortable. The B&B is just across the street from the... more

I cannot say enough about this B&B! My friend and I were allowed to check-in early and the owners offered to serve us breakfast a half hour before normal time as we needed to catch an early train. Their hospitality is indeed off the charts. The room was lovely and clean. Should I find myself in Kilkenny again there will... more

This is probably the nicest B and B in Ireland that I have had the pleasure to stay in (and I have stayed in a few). I had a huge en suite room, very nicely decorated. The room was very comfortable and clean. There was no noise or disturbance from other guests or the proprietors. It's a great location only... more

We stayed here one night on a quick six-day tour of southern Ireland. The house was beautiful and our room was large and very comfortable. The location is excellent for visiting the castle and downtown Kilkenny. The owners gave us advice on pubs for a meal on the evening of our arrival, and Josephine insisted that we leave our car... more

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Carriglea, and everything was top notch: the spacious and clean room, the shower, the breakfast, the service, and the warm welcome. This was by far the best bed and breakfast that my wife and I have stayed in while traveling in Ireland. The location is also ideal for those looking to explore Kilkenny.... more

In real estate, the key is location and this place has an excellent location, great service from the innkeepers, and very good rooms. From the B&B it is about a five minute walk to Kilkenny Castle and a ten minute walk to City Center. There is parking on site so once you arrive, you don't need your car. The room... more
