Dirty rooms, peeling wallpaper, shower not a shower - just a dripping tap, forced to pay full amount ahead of stay, faulty room cards, grotty overpriced fawlty towers type guesthouse.... ....these inconveniences would all have been forgivable if the staff would have been in any way pleasant. My stay in Kilkenny for the Cat Laughs festival was tainted by the... more

We almost cancelled our booking when we saw previous reviews. So glad we did not. I can't explain all the previous negative opinions but need to address them. The facade is old and traditional and looks right down the main street. Situated right behind the old town walls and a stone's throw from the river. There has been a renovation... more

Stayed there last saturday night-what a dump!!! staff rude-no television or mirror in our room-had to wait ages for breakfast and absolutely no choice to be had!! couldn't take a shower as water was scalding. There are so many nice places to stay in Kilkenny-avoid this at all cost!!! more

Horrible place! Deceptive website, much much worse in reality.. Rooms freezing cold, no heating, dodgy door locks, filthy shower, furniture falling apart, generally rundown and unkept.. Breakfast appalling and expectations were not high at that stage.. kitchen under/not staffed.. flies in the orange juice, no choice, long wait for less than average food..A health hazard! Overall a really awful experience!... more

Do not stay here........ You will firstly be asked to pay upfront. Then you will have a battle to try open the door to you room . Once entering the aparent 'luxuary' bedroom you may catch frost bite from the freezing cold...had a battle to get him to turn the heat on. Bathroom shower : all four of us decided... more

This place was not too bad, the breakfast was lovely and was served by a really nice girl who gave us directions for the town. The Bar was busy and full of character. The room was small but clean. more

This place looked ok when viewed on the website, but I'd avoid this place in future. Cramped twin room, lack of towels, no TV remote, dodgy coloured water to wash/shave. Foreign staff at breakfast were nice and the food was ok at breakfast, but some drunken punter managed to get access to our room and we found him in a... more

Myself and 3 male friends stayed here on a weekend in early July 2007. The room I stayed in had wallpaper peeling off the walls, had no tv remote control, no plug for the sink. The sink itself had numerous cracks. The water in the shower was scalding hot. Our beds weren't made and the bins weren't changed during our... more

I stayed here with sone friends last year for a Hen Night and I agree totally with the other reviews - IT IS A DISASTER ZONE.. The place is filthy, staff are rude, the fire detector in our room was disconnected, the room keys did not work and we were given a master key to let ourselves in. No choice... more

Do not book into this B&B, the owner does not care about running a good establishment. She does not clean the rooms properly (my shower was blocked from hair), she does not provide proper training to her staff (some nice Eastern European girls who obviously were not instructed about serving Irish breakfasts), she does not care about hygiene. The breakfast... more
