Stayed at the Railway hotel for one night during a bike trip - and found it to be exactly the kind of hotel I love. A cavernous place with a maze of corridors and stairways; decor from long ago; tiny rooms with nice views over backyards and chimneys. For the price (I paid 35 Euro for a single, B&B!) the... more

Railway Hotel in Limerick, Ireland in directly across from bus and train station and only 2 blocks from the CityLink Bus stop( Walk in same direction as bus is pointing for 2 blocks and go left one block to door). I found it a great value and an easy walk to all parts of town. Limerick is definitely worth visiting... more

I have stayed at this hotel more than 15 times and it is safe ,comfortable and consistent. The owners have been accommodating and helpful each and every time. They care about you as a traveler and guest. The pub is clean and a typical local. The food is excellent and cheap. The rates are wonderful. If your expecting to be... more

If you are looking for luxury, better hike down the road to find it--and pay double the price. However, if you want a warm Irish welcome, a clean bed, a hot shower and people who will take the time to talk with you like they know you, and halp you, you'll enjoy staying at Limerick's historical Railway Hotel. I'm an... more

This place is a dive. A seedy pub with rough customers. Rooms are horrible and noisey particulary at weekends when the locals in the pub below your room decide to turn on each other with associated screaming, smashing of furniture and police sirens. Kitchens are filthy and adhere to no hygiene standards that I know of. As title of this... more

This is a very old hotel that problem did a booming business when the railway was the main means of mass transport, those days have long gone. The rooms are small, the decor is aged and the I had the overwhelming feeling that I had travelled back in time to the 1950’s. In fact it is quite possible that the... more

We stayed at the Railway Hotel in Limerick in July this year. The rooms, even the non-smoking ones, stank of cigarettes and they all had ashtrays in them. I commented to the managment who felt they had no control over people smoking in their rooms. THe food was of poor quality also, the scrambled egg was swimming in water, to... more

I stayed here in February. The hotel is adjacent to the train station. Even though it is located in the city I was lucky enough not to hear any noise. I was staing in a room back of the hotel. Will stay again. The owners are also very friendly. more

As others have noted this hotel is very old and hasn't been updated in decades. They do appear to keep it clean - I noticed them vacuuming, cleaning windows, glass and brass everyday. However, they are cleaning old outdated rooms. The mattress and box spring were sitting on the ground - no bed frame. There was no dresser in my... more
