We have just returned home after spending our seventh October short break at Bertra House. Margaret is very welcoming and extremely accomodating. The rooms are modern, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Ideally situated for a walk along the beach or a more strenuous trek up Croagh Patrick. We will certainly be back for more. more

This was our 3rd stay at Bertra House. Margaret has become a dear friend. Her kindness and desire to make our stay as enjoyable as possible sets her apart from most B&Bs that we've visited. The location is unbelievable with "the Reek" looming to the south and beautiful vistas of Clew Bay and Achill Island to the west. Fabulous breakfasts... more

We had a quick stay in Bertra House (1 night only) but it was a lovely stay. Margaret was so friendly and I felt very relaxed in the house. After a tough Croagh Patrick climb the piping hot shower was just what I needed. we really enjoyed our stay here and will definately stay again if we are in the... more

I really enjoyed my time at this B&B, we stayed a week. We felt very welcome and at home, service was very friendly, real good choice of breakfast. I would definatly recommend this B&B to anybody. We stayed at Bertra House one night with our family of six (three teens and a 10 year old). Margaret greeted us warmly - we had arrived later than we'd anticipated, and we were worried that she might give away our rooms (we'd tried to call but couldn't get through on our phones), but she assured us that she'd never... more

We would name several of the B&Bs in which we stayed our favorites and this was definitely one of them! Margaret was friendly, pleasant and more than anything, FUN! She is a great storyteller and we so enjoyed our interactions with her. We kept looking for others with her fun and spunk at other B&Bs, but she's unlike all others!... more

I stayed at Bertra house with my boyfriend and his parents (who have never been to Ireland before) because of it's location - which is located at the foot of Croaigh Patrick and approx 500 yards from the beach. The location was out of this world and the sunny June weekend that we had, showed Croaigh Patrick and the beach,... more

Nestled between the foothills of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay, lovely Bertra House is a treasure waiting to be discovered. Sheep, a gentle dog, and the owner, Margaret Gill, welcome visitors warmly. She thoughtfully has placed a litter of bottled water, candy bars, and tea in each room. Breakfast is served in the delightfully clean front room at your chosen... more
