I recently booked the hostel for a group of teenagers. The team were excellant, very friendly and helpful. Anything required was provided instantly, for example there is a barrier stopping anything over 1.8m high from entering the driveway, one of the team gave me a key to it, so that we could come and go as we please, (we had... more

Always wanted to spend a night in an abbey? Here's your chance. This hostel is housed in a refurbished monastery. The owner has tastefully redecorated but kept many of the original fittings. The result is a totally charming and pleasing home away from home. Gorgeous original wood floors, the vestment cabinet, a chapel turned sitting room, two guitars, a flat... more

The Abbeywood Hostel is in a great location - literally just a few steps away from the Westport town center. There are tons of tiny shops, restaurants, pubs, and it really is a tidy town - beautiful flowers along the river - very cute. The Hostel was impeccably clean, comfortable, and quiet. Our double private room had its own sink... more

We booked the Abbeywood as we were attending a friend's wedding in Westport. We were on quite a strict budget so stayed in this hostel. Before arriving I was a bit concerned as we don't normally stay in hostels anymore and I was worried about potential standards- how wrong I was!! This was better than a lot of hotels and... more

This was a pretty former convent close to the center of Westport. Easy to find. It has a funky charm and beautiful grouunds. Very peaceful. The staff was very nice, one girl had been to our hometown in the states and we had a nice chat about that. A really nice kitchen and great Breakfast provided. If you're there to... more

Hi there, I have just happened to see this review and I am the "rude girl" at reception that is mentioned, I am also the owner and Manager of Abbeywood House. I appreciate all constructive criticism however this review does not come under that heading so I feel that I should respond. I had a group of guys check in...

This hostel is sheer delight for groups of students who like to cook for themselves, play the guitar, talk, in general feel at home in a clean and well kept house, where there is fresh homemade soda bread for breakfast... especially after the Croagh Patrick challenge! - I as the leader of the group am sure that this was not... more

Our family had a wonderful stay. The place is a short walk to town yet not in the middle of all the noise. The place is very clean and well kept. We had a private room on the first floor. I was impressed with the fact that the quiet hours are enforced. Which was really important to us as we... more

I’m just back from a wonderful weekend in Westport. We stayed in an amazing hostel there– Abbeywood. Its about 3 minutes walk from the town centre but you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside as it is set in lovely mature gardens which separate it from the town. It’s a converted monastery and it still has... more
