Entrance into hostel, rather confusing nobody answered the door for quite some time. proprietor not very professional wanted payment immediately with very vivid details of facilities, never explained on arrival check out time 10 am. Nobody permanently on reception, not considerate of lodgers needs, or queries. Decor absolutely dreadful, very dated, carpet needs cleaning. Beds felt damp and ridiculous skylights... more

We found the Harbour House Hostel mostly affordable (we paid something like 50+ Euros for a double room ensuite, which had a lovely bathroom). However, it's pros end there. It is quite a walk away from the centre of Sligo town and is located in an industrial area. One thing I also really disliked about our room was the fact... more

Was spending one night in sligo on the way to westport and stayed in the Harbour House Hostel. Had never been to a hostel before and was pleasantly surprised. Stayed in a private ensuite room and it was modern and very clean and the bathroom had an excellent shower. A little out of the town centre but only a 5... more

We stayed in 5 hostels in 5 nights in Ireland, 3 guys all around 6'0". This was by far the worst out of all 5, and it was even a more expensive private room!! The "beds" were the size of cribs, way way too small, and were bunk-beds with wood-boards for supports that sounded like they would crack. 4 feet... more

To address some of your concerns: 1) I'm sorry to hear that you had a rough night's sleep in the beds in room 12. We have actually since upgraded room 12 to a double standard room and our new 4 bed dorm has brand new metal bunk beds. 2) The kitchen closes at 10pm so that it can be cleaned...

I have pretty broad experience with hostels, even on this last trip in March, and Harbour House exceeded most of my expectations. After reading the other reviews I see that we were lucky to walk in to an ensuite double (we just showed up and asked if they had space) but after other experiences of doubles, this was almost like... more

I took a leaflet for this hostel from a stand with relevant information in an other hostel in Doolin. Due to a last minute chance of plans, I arrived in Sligo without a booking and decided to stay there for one night. I was outside the hostel about 11.45 am, and no one was around. A girl staying there explained... more

One cannot emphasize enough the industrial setting of this Hostel. But once you get past that, the rooms are really very nice. Probably the nicest bathroom of the Hostels we stayed in. The kitchen isn't too impressive but the sitting room is nice. The girl manning the front desk was very nice. We have the misfortune of being next to... more

Stayed here as part of a group of 28 on a stag night and, while it served a purpose as somewhere to put our heads down for the night, there were few other positives to be taken away from the experience. When we first arrived at the hostel in the early afternoon, we appeared to be locked out, though we... more

My sister and I recently stayed at the Harbour House hostel in Sligo. We chose it mainly because it was low cost, but also because of it's location to the town and the building itself looked rather charming! However, on arrival, we began to have second thoughts... (To find the hostel you have to walk up a rather badly lit... more
