Carrigmoorna is a working farm. If, like me, you are interested in things like the National Hunt (steeplechasing) and changing breeds of beef cattle in Ireland, this may be the place for you. The pastures are full of beef cattle and thoroughbred horses. An old stone barn and a complex of old house and outbuildings surrounded by a high stone wall are still in use. Though the house is on the N25, it is set back quite a bit, separated by a large pasture. Traffic noise was noticeable, but not bad most of the day.
Mary was very friendly and, in a move I did not encounter elsewhere, she gave us cell phone numbers for herself and her husband, encouraging us to call if we had any questions or needed directions while we were out and about!
My only real complaint was the crowded room. The 2 beds in the room were so packed in that they filled the room. We could just sidle between them, only 1 person could move at a time. The one unlocked wardrobe was half full of...
