Stayed in the 18th century cottage on the grounds. While basic (it is what it says it is) we found it to be beautiful and charming, a low thatched cottage a minute or so from the main house, but if you're looking for an unique place to sleep this is it.... The breakfast is served in the main house, and it is lovely to awaken in the morning and stroll up. The owners are charming and informative company and the taxi service into the town is cheap, and going on the owners recommendation we met what must be the most affable taxi driver on the planet, he actually texted up after we left to ensure we were having a good time... the accommodation is basic, but it's so charming, and if you embrace this you'll have a memory of something sweet to carry with you through your life.... more

Regardless personal opinions, this is definitely a special place.
Looking for accommodation late in the evening, we saw a sign reading "secluded accommodation". I'm fond of quietness and peace, so I found this appealing.
Well, I have to say that this could be too quite for some people. The manor is situated in a private state, next to a castle, and I would lie if I didn't say that it was a bit creepy. I think we were the only guests, and the things in general made us have the feeling of being in a horror movie. The isolated place, the old man in reception (probably the owner), the exotic and extravagant decoration with tribal masks and stuffed animals, the four posters beds...
Now, don't get me wrong, the owner was nice, so was the room. But still, it's like sleeping in Dracula's castle.
You have the choice of choosing a bedroom in the courtyard instead of the manor. These aren't Georgian style bedrooms but average rooms for 55e per person, which is a bit...
