Thinking of this hotel makes me smile; for some reason, despite its distinctly worn nature, I quite liked staying there. The prices were quite good, and the staff very helpful. The location is excellent for Harrogate - everything is within walking distance. The room service is also pretty good, though it closes quite early. Breakfast can be a surreal affair,... more

Stopped for one night at this hotel and that was enough. Staff on arrival were miserable and un-welcoming. Room was very small and was dirty with wallpaper and light fittings hanging off the walls. I'm not sure if the bed had been changed as there was hairs in it, the bathroom was dirty and the television didn't work. One redeeming... more

O.k. so some of the paintwork needing sprucing up a bit and the general decor could do with a bit of renovation, but all in all we had an enjoyable stay at this hotel. The reception area and lounge were really comfortable with lots of big couches and a chap playing the piano. The room we stayed in was spacious... more

Expecting this hotel to be very mediocre we were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and quality of the furnishings. The staff were pleasant and friendly and the breakfast excellent. Considering that this is a town centre hotel it was amazingly quiet as it is set well back from the main road. Would definitely reccommend. more

This Hotel should be great, it’s quirky, quaint and central. Sadly when I stayed there for 3 nights the hot water varied between tepid and luke warm! I was repeatedly promised that the boiler would be fixed, sadly it didn’t happen during my stay. In my room there was a large damps spot on one of the walls and other... more

This rates as one of the poorest hotels I've stayed in. The owners have let it become tired and worn out, and have clearly not spent any money on upgrading, or maintaining it. NO hot water, small poorly furnished room in need of a complete makeover, air conditioning units outside my window humming all night, 2.5" gap under the door.... more

The staff were polite and friendly. The hotel, a once grand place but now needs refurbishing, which does appear to have started. The room was comfortable and warm, the bathroom an experience. The shower switched from boiling hot to freezing cold just as you thought you'd got the temperature right, good if you like to play 'shower roulette'! When the... more

Having first booked this hotel, and then looked at the reviews, I was in a state of panick by the time I arrived. This was a planned break for my elderly mother, and I wanted it to be a pleasant stay! Despite all the reviews, on arrival, we found the staff to be extremely helpful, kind and considerate! The rooms (... more

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The bedroom had lovely views of the fire escape. the bed must have been used by a herd of elephants as a trampoline, peeling wallpaper, unkempt, lightshades hanging off fittings. Could not find tea/coffee making facilities initially (then found out they hide them in the drawer). Blankets on bed im... more

unless you don't mind a shabby dirty place. All the bad comments are true and I don't know how anyone can say good things about it especially as it's supposed to be 3 star.Harrowgate is a beautiful town and I would have paid extra for alternative accomodation.Visit at your peril. I have given 1 rating because you have to put something... more
