Detailed Reviews
Having been in Covid 19 lockdown and home working etc. we needed a break! Initially Humble Bee cottage was fully booked (boo) but Tanya had kept a record of my initial interest and contacted me (hurrah). We were so pleased that she did!
The location was perfect for us. Close to Harrogate so easy to travel to but surprisingly peaceful and relaxing. The Yorkshire Dales are on the doorstep - beautiful walking and scenery.
Humble Bee cottage is lovely, with everything that you could need (despite restrictions for Covid). We are a family of four, all adult (or adult sized) and we were very comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful.
Tanya is a lovely lady who goes above and beyond to make sure that everything is perfect. Her apple pies are delicious and her cookshop stocks all manner of kitchen paraphernalia.
We ordered meat (Kendalls) and vegetables (KD fruiterers) from two local suppliers and a meal from Simply Suppers via Tanya. This was all ready when we arrived. Everything was superb quality and delicious.

This campsite was lovely. It is small and the pitches are spread out so you don't have anyone on top of you. We chose to be in the Orchard. Beautiful views of the countryside and animals.
The facilities available are excellent. Clean toilets and showers. Fridge /freezer available to use including an honesty box for eggs, and bacon etc. The cookshop was amazing. So many things to buy.
The campsite was very well situated. Near to Harrogate and other places. Walks available from the campsite too.
We loved the fact that there was a 'no noise after 10.30' rule. This was very important to us when choosing a campsite.
BUT most importantly of all was the warm welcome we had from Tania. She is an absolute credit to the campsite. So friendly and helpful.
We would definitely return in the future.

My Husband our 2 Dogs and myself stayed at the Caravan site for a week. What a truly lovely week we have had Tanya and Dave couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful it truly is a little haven. I highly recommend anyone to stay here. It was very comforting to know that extra care had been taken for the COVID restrictions it certainly gave us peace of mind while staying at the Cud Life. Tanya has taken great care to enable you not to have to leave the camp site by having fantastic food suppliers in her shop making our stay even more relaxing and giving us more time to enjoy the views and the fabulous Coffee & Cakes Tanya makes.
The Banoffee is definitely a must try.

We stayed at Cowslip Cottage for a week in July. We booked directly with Tanya and Dave and every step of the way the communication was excellent. Tanya offers a service of if you want to order some fantastic local produce it is all there ready for you when you arrived. This includes locally made ready meals, which were lovely. The cottage has a real farmhouse feel about it and is really big and airy. I loved opening the door and hearing the cows. Tanya & Dave are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Cowslip cottage is a great base to visit areas of Yorkshire from and you always know that at the end of the day you have somewhere comfy and cosy to return to, with loads of hot water and a big bath. In a year when most of us staycationing this was a real gem of a find and staying at Cowslip at The Cud Life made it a really special holiday.

What can I say about this beautiful place. Lovely owners, fantastic services such as a communal fridge and freezer to use as well as an honesty box so you can purchase homemade produce such as sausage, bacon and eggs.. Thank you so much Tania for allowing us to make a wonderful week of family memories 😊

We've just had a fantastic stay at Honeybee cottage.
This is a brilliant location, especially for a walking holiday.
The cottage is lovely and has everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. It's spacious and very well designed. It's set on a working farm and during our stay 2 cows calved.
We had a lovely view from our cottage and there's outdoor furniture if the weather's good.
Our hosts were brilliant and even left a delicious apple pie for us and some dog ice cream for our canine companion.
We had some lovely walks during our stay, including 2 which started off at the farm.
We took a right on leaving the property and continued along to Ripley Castle, for a circular walk back to Killkngwall.
There's some stunning scenery and a lovely coffee shop outside the castle for a pit stop half way. The fields and woodlands had the start of their spring flowers and there were fields of bluebells, giving the appearance of a purple carpet. There were aromatic wafts of the wild garlic, and the whole walk was full of glorious sights and smells, and the sounds of the birds.
Another walk nearby was to Harrogate via the killingwall business park turn off. We walked about 6 miles each way to the centre of harrogate. It's a lovely walk on the flat, with many cyclists, runners and walkers using the main path.
We had a ride to Pateley bridge about 10 miles away and did a fabulous circular walk. This took in panoramic countryside views and included an uphill walk so steep I felt like I'd climbed Everest, and deserved a medal at the end!
Up above from next to a pylon you could see for miles.
We then drove to nearby Brimham rocks and although the light rain turned to hailstones we thoroughly enjoyed it. The rocks were there millions of years before the dinosaurs and it felt like a visit to a Jurassic park. Very interesting.
We also had a lovely day in Knaresborough. The views are stunning along and above the riverside, and from the castle. We also visited Mother Shiptons cave and enjoyed that, learning more about the history.
Having been in lockdown for so long it was a real treat to be out and about, and enjoying nature.
We loved our stay at Honey bee cottage and it felt like a home from home ( If I had a home as lovely as that).

Great position for cycling to Harrogate and surrounding area and Mark was lovely and very helpful telling us different routes. The only downside for me was the unisex 2 toilets and 2 showers being in the same building I felt unable to use the hairdryer after showering as I felt there was too many people coming in and our of the toilets as when the site is busy so are the toilets. There is no driver over waste for MHs you have to use the black waste disposal point which I did not like putting our drainage hose near the black waste compartment. Views were nice and great position but I'm afraid not for me.

Thank you for taking the time to review The Cud Life campsite Also thank you for sharing your photographs of our bins, toilets and waste point - I don't think we've had anyone take pictures of them before!?!? I hope you also took some photographs of the beautiful unspoilt views, spacious pitches, well kept grass, stunning sunrises, wildlife and farm animals that we normally get to see from happy guests 😉

Beautiful views from our motorhome pitch. Great walks from the site and helpful and welcoming owners. The kitchenware shop is delightful.
The buses run into the evening from the end of the lane to Harrogate and Ripon.
The village of Ripley is well worth a visit.
We had a great stay.
