This was booked by a colleague who had stayed here before; our first choice of hotel was already fully booked. The place is immaculately kept, and the owners obviously go to a great deal of trouble to look after their guests. Breakfast was very good (although there were raised eyebrows when I refused their stewed fruit). For me though, it... more

A nice family run bed and breakfast in Harrogate. It's not in the most convenient place for the centre of town being a twenty-five minute walk away. However, it is immaculately kept and does a good breakfast. The rooms are lovely, if a little over knick-knacked. The tea and coffee making facilities are just what you want in that there... more

What a gem of a BB. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Breakfast....a great choice, beautifully cooked and presented. Barry and Lesley are wonderful hosts - friendly, considerate and nothing is too much trouble. I had forgotten to take a pair of gloves and the weather was bitterly cold. There she... more

The last time I stayed in a single room (in Leicester) I was given a shoebox of a room, so although I'd read the glowing reviews on here, I wasn't expecting too much of Applewood House's single room. I was in for a very pleasant surprise! Tucked away at the top of the house, it was actually quite spacious, with... more

A well looked after B&B - beautiful rooms with comfortable beds & well decorated. Lovely touches in the room! On a personal note although the owners were helpful I personally found them a little intrusive especially at breakfast. I like to be left to my own devices when away for a weekend. The owner kept joining in our conversations at... more

I have just returned from a stay at Applewood House with my two daughters and daughter-in-law. Barry and Lesley Knight, the hosts, are fantastic. Lesley even took us down into the town by car to show us how to get there and back on foot if we wanted to. Our rooms were as good, if not better than a 5... more

I totally agree with everything said in the couple of reviews before this one. Applewood House is a gem of a B&B, in fact, it is difficult to call it that as the standard is that of a 4/5 star hotel! The rooms are lovely, decorated to a very high standard, and all those little touches that Niki151 mentioned in... more

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderful guest house. Barry & Lesley are the perfect hosts who are willing to help you enjoy your stay to it's fullest by suggesting nice drives across the Dales and restaurants to eat at. The rooms are spacious, comfy, clean and with all the little touches you would not expect... more

what a super find. My sister and I stayed for one night but wished we could stay more. The rooms were spotless, and so tasteful, everything so fresh and bright, with lots of little touches that made all the difference, such as wine glasses with a bottle opener, TV. radio alarm and a CD player. Barry and Lesley were so... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Applewood House for two nights in order to take in the sights and see The Who at nearby Harewood House. This is one of the best b&bs we have ever stayed in. Lovely room, spacious bathroom and the lovely Barry and Lesley. The breakfast is fabulous and you have to try Lesley's stewed fruit,... more
