I booked this hotel last minute as we did not want to travel too far and wanted somewhere with a pool, steam room, jacuzzi etc - the health suite in this hotel was first class! The staff were excellent and we could not fault the cleaniless of the rooms or the quality of the food and the service in the... more

This is the first HI I've come across with smoking rooms, so (for me) this was a plus, as is its proximity to the M5 and Gloucester city. Good 3G reception means mobile Broadband users can avoid the Draconian in-house internet charges too. The problem with this hotel (as with so many other chains) is the staff. They try so... more

Checking in and checking out not good. Check in desk unmanned on arrival, with no call bell. When receptionist finally arrived she went through the motions, but was unfriendly, unhelpfull and unwelcoming. When checking out (different receptionist) an incorrect item for £20 was on our bill. The time between arrival and departure was much better. All other members of staff,... more

We booked a £46 bed and breakfast deal from the weekend newspaper ads. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and room was comfortable. Pool was good, Why do so few other pools provide spin driers for swimsuits and plastic bags for wet kit? It is the sum of the small details that help make for a great saty, more

We stayed here at end of June on the annual journey south from Scotland at the start of the school holidays. The combination of a very spacious room, swimming pool/gym and pleasant relaxed staff made it the best stopover we have had. It's great to set off the following day with kids mellowed by a good breakfast and swim. As... more

We stayed in the hotel for a 2 night weekend break. Unlike other reviews, we found no problem with the staff during the stay, the service we received was fine. We had a family room which consisted of a double plus 2 singles. It was clean, relatively spacious and had plenty of storage space. We used the leisure facilities throughout... more

I stayed 1 night on business and arrived after a very long day and did not like to have to wait 15 minutes to check in. There was only 1 member of the front desk staff who was having some difficulties. Eventually after 15 minutes she got some help and I got checked in. Rooms are pleasant enough. I ate... more

This is a great hotel. The rooms a very modern, and staff very friendly. We were a group over on a rugby weekend with Munster, and they looked after us.... The only downfall is that the hotel is situated on the outskirts of the down, so everytime you have to go into town, its a taxi... I booked through the... more

Good base although surrounding area is not that great - office blocks and a Sainsburys, was expecting beautiful scenery. Family rooms were spacious and clean although nearly £8 if you paid to watch a film..rip off ! We got this break for £99 which included 2 nights,1 evening meal and breakfast both days therefore a real bargain! Dinner was ok,a carvery,no... more

We're a family of four (two adults, one teenager, one primary school age) who needed to stay in the Gloucester area to visit family over Easter. We picked the Holiday Inn chain as we'd previously had good experiences of them. LOCATION: The hotel is actually in Barnwood, a suburb of Gloucester, and about 3-4 miles outside the actual city centre.... more
