Booked into this poor excuse for an hotel for 2 nights,to go walking in beautiful derbyshire countryside. We got to the hotel at about 8-15pm and booked in. We decided to go for a drink around Derby then get back for 11pm , so we could get up bright and early the next morning and set off walking. We got... more

The Rangemoor's an old building, and that's understandable (quite a lot of B+B or guesthouse style accommodation in the UK is) - but for the price paid, I felt the facilities were a bit rubbish. The room was extremely dated and a bit tatty/grubby. I had a standard double which meant a shared bathroom which I don't mind at all,... more

Having sudden unexpected business in nearby Belper, my wife and I decided to make it a bit of a break and stay over night in Derby and visit the new shopping centre there. I rang direct from my home in Yorkshire and was able to book an en suite room without the slightest problem. As I said we had business... more

Fair enough, for £40 per night, expectations are limited, although vacuming the bedroom carpet costs nothing but two minutes of time - not that it would have made a huge difference as it was the filthiest and most stained piece of red carpet I've ever seen, including student digs of our youth! The bed was incredibly lumpy & uncomfortable and... more

My husband and I stayed there 4th July and were made to feel very welcome. although the hotel is a little tired it is under new management and is due for complete refurbishment this year . The bedroom and ensuite bathroom were spotlessly clean , the breakfast was great , the service and friendly atmosphere could not have been any... more

The welcome I got on arrival is the worst I've experienced in a place I have paid to stay. I expected to check in then go and meet some friends, only to be told by the lady (owner?) who had answered the door that I have to come back at 5pm as my friends had gone shopping (what that had... more

This is one of the worst Hotel experiences I have ever had. We were booked into 'standard' rooms for £30 per night, and were by no means expecting a palace, but were not prepared for what we actually did find. The rooms although very small, are of adequate size, but are seperated by only one thickness of plaster board, meaning... more

If all you want is a bed in Derby then it is OK, but don't expect too much. The entrance is via very steep steps, and there are many steps (no lift) inside. The bedroom was Ok, with a very squeaky door and a gurgling plumbing system. Brakfast was poor...there were 3 of us - but there were only 2... more

I stayed at this hotel at a quiet time, but for £30 for one night in a single room, was happy I got what I paid for. All I wanted was a place to get my head down after a Friday night out in Derby, and this hotel more than accomplished this. I found the staff to be pretty friendly,... more
