Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nothing good to say about The Wiltshire Hotel, golf & leisure resort. Everything was very scruffy including the golf course. Arrived, 10 cars in a massive car park. Unsavoury looking individuals hanging round the front entrance. We were 7 golfers, one of which had been a member here 20 years ago with fond memories. About to be dashed. Not allowed in the front entrance, had to walk 250 yards around the hotel into a side entrance where a man sitting behind a makeshift desk took our money and attached a wristband to us all. Paid for a buggy and asked to hand over driving licence as security. Went to the bar - waited and waited. Same man who took our money came to the bar to take our order. Huge bar area - just us. Bacon rolls were good, coffee not so. Found the buggy which seemed brand new with overhead screen. Also found the first tee. The course looked like a tractor was used to cut the grass without a collection box so you could easily loose your ball on the fairway, and we did. The greens were reasonable so no balls lost there. The atmosphere was such that the owners, who are not English are using the hotel facilities for some other purpose. Yet to be determined. Do not go there to stay or play golf or eat or for any other purpose.

Course was fine very well looked after and some cracking holes. Not impressed no pro shop, no range no food and some dodgy guys walking around carpark. Have a feeling hotel has been rented out to the Government. Whole place felt very unwelcoming

Very average hotel. A lot of things out of order e.g the hot tub and showers etc.. no hot water in room, staff weren’t interested in sorting the problem. No idea how this place has 4 stars. Gym is really good hence why I’m giving a 2 star review. Everything is dirty and needs to be revamped

A one night stop over in this pleasant, comfortable hotel. Whilst rooms a bit tired in decor they were spotlessly clean and spacious. The indoor pool was a good size and much appreciated! Jacuzzi whilst super warm couldn’t ‘bubble’ due to broken switch. The service in the bar and restaurant is outstanding! A one man band! Couldn’t have been more politely attentive and helpful. Limited menu on this not very busy Saturday evening. It was “curry” heavy and on advice I went for the ‘Korma style beef curry with coconut rice”. Plentiful BUT it was (sorry chef) a beautifully tender steak casserole in rich gravy with curry powder! Not a hint of yoghurt or spice that make up a “Korma” and at £20 overpriced! Breakfast was lovely. The burger with fries was ok and possibly not homemade - would have liked to have been asked how preferred. Found it slightly over cooked for guest’s personal liking. Otherwise we’ll definitely be back. We found a super deal online and overall hotel, location and service far away the option of the various chain overnight possibilities in the area.

Stayed at the Wiltshire for a weekend break and was a little apprehensive looking at some of the feedback however I was pleasantly surprised. It's not perfect and yes does need a refurb but it's practical and good value for money. Rooms were very clean and the staff are pleasant and very helpful. It obviously depends on what your needs are but for the cost I would certainly recommend. I would have rated this a 5 but we did have an issue with hot water which would be our only criticism of the hotel. Regular bus service from the main entrance into Bassett / Swindon and Chippenham but it is very dark at night and a high speed road.

Well what can we say! Yet again we had another excellent day. Great round of golf and half way through we stopped for one of the best roast dinners we have ever had. If you are not into your golf then I would still recommend you trying the food as it is cooked to perfection. We also recommend the gold to friends of ours and they played today for the first time and loved it. Thank you Bob and staff for another amazing day.
